What oem radios are swappable between the civics and integras or is that even possible. Thanks

 

Any of them (usually single DIN is the easiest) as long as you get a harness converter.

 

I still have my oem cd player out of my 96 accord ya think that will work to?

 

it should work..match it up with the stock harness on the teg

Ok I got the 96accord cdplayer/cassete radio in but its not working. Well it gets power but theres nothing on the screen. Im guessing this is where I put in the code? One other issue since I dont own the accord anymore will I have a problem getting the code from honda?

 

Call up a Honda dealership and say you bought it from a "junkyard". You have the serial number, they should give it to you.

 

call them up... if they give u a hassle try calling a different dealer... they are all different some give out the numbers...some dont and some try to charge... just call and ask for parts and tell them u have a radio from a junk yard and neeed the radio code...they will need the numbers off the radio...good luck

 

We actually swapped my oe deck from my 01 integra into a 89 prelude. Worked perfect.

 

you shouldn't have any trouble getting a code. usually though a Honda radio would say code on the display. if it doesn't light up you wont be able to see the code you are entering. a 96 and 00 honda have different wiring harnesses. possibly you have an illumination wire on your 96 radio that is not getting voltage. how did you connect the wiring?

 

The acura harness plugged right into the accord radio. I know its getting power but yeah theres nothing on the screen.

 

Well call for the code and try entering it. You only need the serial number from the radio. The serial number is on the label. with cassette and cd you probably need to seperate them. the label is on the bottom of the cassette deck i believe. hopefully you don't have a broken radio.

 

I hope its not broken as far as I know it worked when I took it out of the accord but that was like years and years ago. Its been sitting for a while.

 

Well thanks for the help guys lol figures the s/n on the radio isnt registered with honda. Thats my luck!

 

So maybe you audio gurus can help me now. The aftermarket stereo has some relay box under the shift console. So theres a remote to a six disc changer connected to it and then the radio plug. Basically nothing is getting power not the oem radios or aftermarket ones. All fuses and wiring have been checked so im clueless at this point as to what is wrong.

 

Alright, first question. Have you used a meter to check for power? A few days ago you knew you were getting power. Now you're not. Not trying to hassle you. Hard to help without good info about the problem. 2000 Teg colors (I think). Key power:Yellow with red stripe. Constant power:White with blue stripe. Ground:Black. Constant power could be White with a yellow stripe, but i think it changed to White with Blue in 1998. Use the factory ground in the harness when you meter for power. That way you can check for ground potential at the same time. For example: If you use the ground in the harness and check power and only get 9 volts then use another ground and check again. If you have 12.5 volts with the other ground then you aren't getting a good ground in the harness. If you still get 9 volts then the problem is on the power side.

Second, have you ever used the changer? Did you buy it used and didn't know it had a changer? Does it even have the changer or just the box and control? If you never use the changer, I would remove the box and all of the wiring. Make sure not to leave any bare wire. If they cut into the radio harness to put the changer in make sure to tape it up good after you remove the changer wiring. It sounds like an aftermarket FM modulatd changer. If so the box should have three power wires, I cable that leads to the changer, and antenna input from the car, and an antenna output back to the radio. Take care not to cut your factory antenna wire.

Third, does everything else in the car work OK? Clock, horn, dome light etc. Did you check all of the fuses, or just the one that says radio. Integras have fuses underdash and underhood that power the radio. Also i have seen fuses that appear to be OK but aren't passing current. Easiest to check with a meter. There is two metal tabs on top of the fuse. One to the left of the rating number and one to the right. Use these tabs to check for voltage. It should measure the same on both sides. The backup fuse underhood is a common problem 7.5 amp. If this is blown DO NOT change it out for a bigger fuse. Could easily be that the radio and changer combo pulled to much current for that circuit and the fuse popped. Replace that fuse with another 7.5 and reconnect your radio. If the fuse pops again you need to run your own fused power wire to the ignition harness.

That shoud get you started. I'll check in later. Happy troubleshooting!

 

Thanks for the info! Yeah only reason I know it had power at one point was because the sony cd player face plate flipped down and beeped did all that but no display lights. The oem radio is lit but no display again. The wiring is a mess from the cd changer and its all there. I checked all fuses to even under the hood. Im going to measure for current this afternoon.
