Default turbo current engine or rebuild first

Im ready to turbocharge my f23a1. I want to rebuild the engine first to prevent any failures since my engine is so old (175000 miles!!). A friend of mine said to turbo it now cuz older engines are better to boost. He said somethin about old engines have slight compression leak, so if the turbo sends too much boost to my engine, the compression leak will allow some of the boost to slide harmlessly past the piston and prevent a cracked block. I think he on crack, but what he said has been bothering me. can someone give me some insight on this?

What?

Do research, then decide. I guarantee if you search "turbo" in the accord section you'll get a hit that's relevant since it's asked every other day.

lol yeah. im just gonna get some more rods and pistons. it never hurts to have stronger parts. ive seen some turbo kits on tas auto. im tempted to get on, but i know it would be cheaper to make my own kit, but i dont know too much about making a kit from scratch. would it better to get one from there or piece my own?

It's probably smarter to piece your own kit together, check the FI forum.

Ive been researching turbo stuff and came across something. a dsm turbo will almost bolt directly to a f22. what about my f23a1? also, if the dsm turbo doesnt fit or if the turbo gives out on me, what is a good turbo size for me to run? im lookin for a small turbo cuz i plan on autocrossing.

i just boosted my current car with 155000 miles and i just broke 157000 miles and i couldnt be happier. i compression test my motor every 2 weeks and it is all in perfect working order considering the mileage!

BOOST!! FTW!!!

Spool up pretty quick? I know these are stupid questions, but i read about trim, a/r, and the turbine and compressor wheels, but i still dont quite understand, and im tryin to avoid getting a large, laggy turbo.

I believe this was just discussed in another thread. The DSM manifolds can be bolted up to the F22Ax heads with a exhaust port spacing of o-o-o-o but not the F22Bx heads because of their o-oo-o port spacing. I don't remember what the exhaust port spacing is on the F23Ax head but if it's the same as the F22Bx heads then it won't work.
