Help please. Lost lug nut key. Need to remove lugs.
soo i havve lugs on my front 2 tires and i need to put 2 new axels on the front but have to take the lugs off but have no key to take them off cause i cant find it. can anybody tell me how to get them off!!!!
Weld a nut on top of the keyed lug and remove it with a normal wrench. A tire shop should be able to remove it as well.
1. you can buy a special socket that will screw on over the lugnut and reverse thread it out. like an ez-out tool to remove broken studs
2. take it to a wheel place. they will have that tool also.

wow man all really bad bad options. go to any local car auto/performance/parts shop. they carry all the common keys. chances are they are not some extordinary lug with a special key and they will have the key for u to borrow at least. i kno where i work we carry about 10 keys, and if we dont have the key we can order it for u.

idk man im not a price guide. there cheap, but for most cases shops wont let u take them for fear of u stealing wheels. take ur car to a shop and have them remove the wheels. any common tire, shop like i said will have various keys
if its not that ordinary.. find a socket that fits as snug as possible, and if you can get a hold of an impact gun, try it... it should work.. using a regular rachet would just make it strip, if you find one that is almost right but a little off, use a mallet or hammer to hammer it in and impact the lug out, then use like a screw driver to get the lug out the socket..
let me know how it goes

I had the same problem. I used a socket that was a little to big and hammered it on to the lug nut. It took quite a bit of force so i wouldn't try it if you are not confident with a hammer. After i hammered it all the way on i used a regular ratchet and it came off no problem. Then put the socket with the lug nut stuck in it into a bench vise and hammer the lug nut out from the other side. I used a thick punch and put it through the drive hole of the socket. If you pay attention to how the socket is oriented in relation to the lug nut, you can put it on the same way on the others that are stuck. It will get easier and easier to put it on the lugs and to get them out of it. I used a 21mm and just replaced it after. Cost me like 3 dollars.
