Which aftermarket intake to get for B18B engine?
This is my first post and I am a proud owner of a 1994 Integra LS (B18B engine) and have decided to swap out the stock intake with an aftermarket unit.
Can anyone suggest a good one for me? Also, I want it to be CARB legal, so AEM (they are definitely legal) and Injen (they are legal I think also, someone please clarify for me) is the way to go. Password: JDM carbon fiber one looks okay, but probably is for offroad/show only.
AEM one seems to be the most bang for the buck at around $99 for the short-ram version. Is there really much of a difference between short-ram and cold-air? Most likely I will go for short-ram because it is cheaper and there is no risk of sucking up water (sure there are bypass valves, but too much hassle IMO).
Finally, my car is dark green and the AEM one comes in polished silver, red, or blue. I was thinking of red, but I want a second opinion. Thanks in advance for all your feedback!
While I am here, might as well share what I just ordered from Pacific Rim:

Since having an actual "JDM model" in our rides is not an option, this should do the trick for now!
Comments on that fine piece of JDM hotness is welcomed! Why can't we find this at the local auto parts shop?

Seeing that it's your first post you probably don't know... but there are hundreds of threads on this topic. Try searching next time. Also, red intake with a green car
It will look like a christmas tree.

Plenty of information all over the place...but here goes:
Grab a CARB legal AEM Cold air intake. Why?
1. Because it's smog exempt. No hassles from The Man, if that matters to you.
2. The length of the CAI and the diameter give you a nice bump in power right around 4k, so you aren't struggling to go anywhere in your low rpm range...which makes driving an LS fun
3. The Shorts rams are all noisy as hell, even when you aren't going anywhere
I find that the whole cold-air gimmick doesn't really matter all that much, but the AEM CAI is still the best choice for a b18b. That's from my experience.
And if you're scared of hydrolocking (BS, unless you roll through a flood), then just chop the intake tube in half and take the extension off when you need to.
