Planning to swap my 1990 Accord with H22A, but I have an automatic!, what do I need to convert to a
My 90 Accord is pretty quick I stayed side by side with these 2 chicks in a 97 Honda Prelude today, they had a tiptronic tranny and I have an auto, alls I have is an intake. I want to swap an H22A into it but I have an automatic and I need to know what I need to convert to a 5 speed? and how much do H22A's usually go for?
well..you will need to buy mounts for the h22. i would go to ebay to search for the h22 engine, or you can go to www.streetimports.com . some may include the tranny with the engine. forgot to mention, you have to get the ecu and other stuff. to tired to type more...somebody...*yawn* answer. l8r.
Thanks for the info but I already found an H22A for $2,250 at Nippon Motors and why would I have to buy motor mounts? I already have a 2.2 in it, its called the F22A and the H22A should bolt right up, I just need to change the bushings, I will also need a VTEC Controller and a wiring harness. I just need help with the tranny part. Unless I was planning to go with the tiptronic tranny but they suck! I want the 5 speed and I love driving stick because I feel like I have more control over my car and I burn out!
Sorry about that, I meant I can do a burn out. With an automatic tranny you lose like 20 percent of your power and if you go to the track you wanna be able to do a burn out so that you can heat up your tires for better traction. Now can somebody please help me? has anybody ever converted an auto to a 5 speed? if so what do I need?

I can burn out in my auto nicely......I don't even need to rev the engine......I just pull the tightest U-turn she can handle and they squeal like mad. Not even necessarily a U-turn, just a sharp turn will do the trick for me.
I also used to sometimes rev up to about 6k in neutral and pop it into drive to get a small burnout. Does anyone know if this is bad for my auto tranny??

I dont want to sound like an *** or anything, of course that is bad for your tranny, that could **** up your torque converter, or **** up your tranny all together, do it again and see if you smell something coming out from underneath your hood.
yeah I only did it a couple of times when I first got the car....never smelled anything though, maybe it's cuz I have a deviated septum
If your swapping motors and going from auto to manual, I hope you got quite a few thousand dollars in the bank. Not even worth it. Sell you car and buy a manual. It'll help your wallet from getting so light. I saw a guy do that very same swap. Had trouble with a lot of stuff. His alarm messed up stuff to. I'm in good connection with the shop that did the work. I'll try and get a total price and problems they ran into.
Thanks man I really appreaciate that. I really want a 4 door anyways, I need a 4 door LX. My friend had a nice *** 93 Accord 4 door LX, he had 17 inch Konig Monsoons, ported and polished head, DC Sport header, intake, 2.25 inch piping and Altezza's and on top of that it was a 5 speed. I instantly fell in love with the early model Accords. I just wish mine was a 5 speed.
