Default Alternator

Hey guys my alternator went out. So i took it off, man was that a bitch it barley fit threw the bottom of the car with the oil filter off.

Well i need a new one and i want the same exact one cause it barley fit to get it out and a bigger one isent going to go in.

Its a 91 si civic with b16a swap.

The alternator is a denso c i n 4 0
40 02 11-7320

Thats what i get off the alternator.

Is this a b series alternator or the stock d one?

It's the stock one. I got a new alternator for my b16 from auto zone. I got the one for a 90-93 integra ls.

Any alternator that fits and has enough output will work. I got one from AZ for $86 and have had no problems.

Did u take off that cast alternator bracket if not that
was your problem if u take them off it is easier to to take out the alternator. Take that alternator to a parts store have them check it if it back take that dust cover off at the top of it and u will see some brushes there replace them and it should work like the one u are going to buy.

EDIT: you might have to pull the driver side axle out.

I had to do this quite a few times because I delt with advance autos junk products!!!

Try this...
Jack car up on driver side
Take tire off
If u have a inner fender liner take it off
You will see an opening and u will use that whole to pull the alt through
Take alt and the braket that is bolted to the block off
This will free up enough space to pull the alt through
You might have to push down on the rotor to make enough space to get the alt through the whole.

This way is the easiest iway to do an alt swap.

As far as getting an alt just get another new denso. That's what I had to do and I wish I had done that in the beginning. It will save a lot of time! Good luck!

umm its is almost impossible to pull the alternator out from the bottom without removing either the axle or oil filter if you have a B series swap. I took mine out by removing the axle because that was the easier way for me. it only took a few minutes. And just get a 91-93 Integra alternator and match it up at the place you buy it from before you take it home
