Most suitable set up for DD
so i'm in search of a suspention setup strickly for a DD. ive been reading through this area now for a couple months and seems as if the general consensus would be to get GC/Koni . but now im facing a dilemma
only work part time and full time student, i do have the money now to get the gc/koni but im wondering if its really going to be necessary if im not doing any autox-ing or track racing.
i was thinking about getting the H&R race springs with tokico illuminas but i honestly want a lower drop and wouldnt mind spending a BIT more for the GC. so im pretty much looking at 4 items now: GC coils, H&R race springs, Koni yellow, and tokico illumina. what combination of those 4 would be the most suitable for my situation?
the roads around me are not that bad at all, and i would like to spend no more than ~$650-850. this will be going on a stock 99 civic ex coupe

Like you said, gc/koni. That's going to give you better ride quality, handling, and longevity than anything else you mentioned. It's going to be a harsher ride than stock.
Don't lower the car more than 1.75 inches. 1.5 is a good drop for street. Nothing looks stupider than wheels tucked into the fender wells and watching the people inside constantly bouncing up and down.

well i think thats just pref. bro, i'm running 560lb/448lb on my DD and the bouncing around isn't too bad. Im dropped roughly 2.5inchs+ all around and i love how it looks. Being this low may hold you back from shock travel, but IMO handling is still okay.
To the OP, in this case, suspendedHatch is correct. Anything lower than 1.75inchs (i want to say 2inchs with a good shock combo) will def get you rough ride (compared to stock).
The GC/Koni setup will go best with what your looking for.
If your looking to save a little, then i'd suggest GC (OTS)/kyb agx's. I had this setup for 2 1/2 years and it performed perfectly to my expectations. At the time i was looking for comfort, quality, and price. This setup def. hit all three categories, i had it dropped 2-2.5inchs all around with all shocks set to its softest. I did have some bottoming out issues up front when hitting big pot holes, i'd suggest keeping the shocks at mid-high stiffness. Other than that i had great compliments on how nice this setup rode. One other con i have about this setup is handling, it wasn't the best (better than stock though), but you have to sacrifice one thing for another.

hmmm i have gc ots rates and it rides like stock and doesnt bounce. im tucking a little tire too
