I have a 95' Civic EJ1. When I'm slowing down I can hear a strange "ticking" sound coming from the rear. I know it's not my brakes or my struts, they are brand new. This happens when I'm rolling and not pressing the brakes. Any help would be great.

 

Which side does it come from? Also does it do it all the time?

 

I think it's coming from the passenger side. It does it all the time.

 

is there also a high humming sound? Check to see if there is grease anywhere on the rim. It sounds like it might be the wheel bearing is damaged. I had one on my last car that was about to go out and it started hummung, and it grew louder and louder. Then I sold the car, so i don't know how bad it got.

 

No humming and no grease. Just ticking, the wheels are clean.

 

Jack the car up with the wheel on and grab it and try to wiggle it from side to side. That will instantly tell you if the bearing is shot.
