Ducati's? whuts the big deal?
they are for the most part L twin motors, they have nothing but the best components, the engineering is amazing, and they are very unique...
one day if you get to ride one you'll see what the big deal is. So become buddies with someone that has one then come and become buddies with me so i can ride it too, hahaha.
It's kind of like comparing an Acura NSX to a Ferrari 355. One is an appliance for going fast with a bit of heart & soul engineered into the package for marketing purposes, while the other is a specific tool for going fast with no compromises. Sure, one might require more maintenance, but that's because it makes all kinds of noises and causes all kinds of emotional attachments that the other option never could.

ducati 748R:
Pro's: very well engineered. very well put together, everything is precise, no extra movement on the levers, grips, body parts ( unless its been abused or dumped before). Sounds beautiful when rolling around town ( cant beat the sound of a V-twin + dry clutch ). It handles like its on rails. And you get the prestige of owning a piece of the most famous Italian racing marquee, and a very nice looking bike. And chicks dig it.
Cons': Its uncomfortable as hell, very aggressive seating position, the back of your leg gets really really hot on long rides due to the highmount exhausts, every 5k miles, you need a FULL tune up, and valve job, The bike isnt very forgiving, it will throw you off if you ride it wrong. Not as much power as a gixxer 750. it costs ALOT!
I did 250 miles in one day on my buddy's 748, and i can say that im glad i dont own one. But then again, a gixxer just doesnt compare to a 748R /996/916/998 in terms of prestige, looks, and handling straight from the factory. But ill out-run a 748R any day!! and the 996's arent getting away from me that easily either! LOL!
