Honda Fit GSR Swap
Don't get too excited over the topic title. I'm not going to actually do this swap ( yet ). I have done research on the K20 Swap. It sounds pretty nice, but from what I have read it has poor traction. I also know that a k20 swap requires pretty significant modifications such as, notching the frame rail, running two ecu's ( stock, hondata) and custom axles.
I have also done a little research on the b-series swap and read that the firewall had
to be pushed back which is the same thing I read about the k20 but hasport came up with mounts that didn't even need all that unnecessary work. Just simply change the intake manifold to make space.
My questions are:
Will a B-Series be lighter and more compact in the engine bay ?
( before you guys come up with anything genius to insult me, I know that if obviously the k20 had trouble fitting the b series would too but I'm assuming there has to be a more efficient way of mounting it and I also don't know the weight diffrence between a k20 and B-Series)
If they are of equivalent weight and size, is there any way to make it handle better on a road course ?
I will appreciate any responses. Also I know custom mounts will have to be fabricated and that's not a problem. Also I am aware of the wiring issues, but that's not really what is concerning me right now. Thanks !

the b costs much less than the k, with the extra cash saved u could buy some very nice suspension. also i would have to assume by comparison of the pics of a k engine next to a b, that the b would be lighter, but probably not by much (again just a visual assesment) i will probably get slaughtered by someone with a damn scale that just so happens to have a k and a b sitting there for that last comment
Well, you'll never be able to make it street legal, unless you can source a 2001 Integra Type-R motor. Even then, you'll need 100% custom wiring, engine mounts, and even driveshafts. After all that, it's going to be cheaper to run a K-series engine.

No, the B18C and K20A weigh the same.
As for size, the K-series is much more compact front to rear than the B and probably a better fit. I say probably because I'm basing it on what I know about the external dimensions of the two engines, not having actually put one in. Although I have put a K in Fit.
If you want to put a cheaper choice in the car, put a K24 CRV or Accord engine with EP tranny in. That way even with K-Pro you pay approximately the same as you would for a B18C engine and have very good power to start and a lot more potential. Put some Skunk2 cams in and you have the same peak hp as a K20A2 with more torque.
Wiring would be equally easy with a B or K if you don't care about using the stock dash.
