Default Leaking oil from headgasket. ??Take out metal rings from headgasket???

I just did a LS/VTEC b18b1 with 95 gsr head and used a Napa OEM replacement 3 layer headgasket. i checked for warpage on both block and head but all was within spec so i didn't resurface anything. Right now it's leaking oil from the headgasket on the exhaust side. seems like it's leaking right where the rings are at as i can feel that there's oil right on the spot. the intake side seems fine but exhaust side is pretty bad. also leaking right where tranny is at.

well my question is should these be taken out or i have a problem elsewhere.

Oh yea, i am using ARP headstuds. torqued to 70 ft lbs...and then retorqued to 70 ft lbs after 200 miles. And i also sprayed 2 light coats of copper spray to the headgasket on both sides.

You should have gone with an OEM Honda head gasket. NAPA/Autozone/Pep Boys can never get parts right for VTEC engines. I had to take back my friggin water pump three times, and then I said f!@k it and got one from the dealer. Get an OEM head gasket. And you shouldn't remove anything from a head gasket unless you really know what you're doing.

yea i should've went with oem honda but i was short on money, but anyways everything lined up and went on perfect. the rings are only touching the head, not the block..i'm just afraid it's bending a little at the edge.

if you used a ls gasket the rivits can get in the way they should be removed.
we only use oem vtec gaskets with all our ls vtec builds and kits no complaints no leaks
