Where to buy: Porterfield pads?
Got a track day in two weeks and need some brake work done. BTW, what's a good rotor to go with the new pads? Or should I brake in the pads with the old rotors first?
If your present rotors aren't grooved (or too thin), they'll be fine with the new pads.
I too am looking for some R4 pads at a good price.
wasn't there a place called Speedtoys or something ... ?

i've heard brand new rotors with brand new pads can be very scary. Not sure if this applies to race pads tho....but if it does, bed in your pads on the old rotors.
I bedded my R4S pads on new rotors with no probs......the first 10 stops are interesting....but I wouldn't advise breakins on hte open road anyhow......
In other words...do it in a controlled envirment and you'll be fine!

New pad and new rotors are OK.
Then again they were cryo'd rotors.

I don't recommend R-4S for track days.
I LOVE them for autocross, but when at Gingerman at the Expo, they seemed to get glazed pretty quickly.
If you can afford it the best option is to get dedicated pads and rotors for the track and a regular set for the street. It is not that much of a pain once you get the set screws off (impact gun). If I did a number of track days, I would just get some Autozone rotors and track pads (Hawk, Porterfield, whatever) for the track and for the street R-4S and stock rotors.

Thanks Chris.
That's what I was looking for, since I couldn't find my receipt from my last order from them.
An additional question.
Which pads did i get that were basically the stock ITR front backing plate, but the pad/friction material was a bit longer (along the length of the pad) to the extent I had to take the "clips" off the caliper in order to be able to fit the pads on?
