Skunk2 Camshafts Pro 1 or Stage 1 tuner series - Here is the Answer!
This was my question to Skunk through their website just thought everyone should know,
What is the difference in upgrades or modifications needed to support use of either stage 1 or pro 1 camshafts on a h22a 10:6 compression motor. Which would yield better results.
Im personally going to have a race header, intake manifold spacer, and skunk springs and retainers to match cams. Intake, and 2.5" exhaust. And hondata tuning. But no flat valves or head mill to raise compression.

Thank you for contacting the Helpdesk at Skunk2 Racing.
You would need more compression to run a set of the Pro 1 camshafts. I recommend the Tuner Stage 1 camshafts, with tuner valvesprings and titanium retainers. This combination should generate 10-15whp and 12-16ft/lbs of torque over your factory camshafts.
If you have any more questions regarding Skunk2 products or policy please let us know. Thanks.

I havnt looked into these debates too much mainly because im simply not ready to purchase cams, but if this is the answer to this question, then what would be the reverse?
Say like me, I would like the Skunk 2 Pro 3's, it sound like it'll need more compression, but do I have to change pistons too or will the high compression skunk2 valvesprings work?

I did, and none of the threads really have much to say on the stage 1 tuner series. Most talk about the pro 1s, and of those half have at least some kind of compression bump, or head work. I couldnt see a thread where pro1s are compared to stage 1s tuner series.
ps. I see your from chi town, i am from that area too, are you a cpc member as well?

People have had very solid results with pro 1 cams on stock bottom end H22's, even the "low" 10.0:1 compression USDM ones.
where the gains only between 6-7.5K or were there any substantial gains beteen 4-6K?
