do i need an injector driver
i'm gonna run 1600cc injectors with hondata s300 i've heard i need an injector driver then ppl said i dont does anyone know for sure if i do or not???
after tuning both, cars with and with out injector drivers with 1600's...........i'd highly suggest using the driver. you dont have any "problems" with out the driver, but it makes everything a lot nicer with the driver.

can you elaborate on how the driver makes it nicer? i'm curious as well. is it something only the tuner sees as beneficial?

idle is no problem. the extra amount of fuel you have to use is, and the lack of control compared to the driver. part throttle is a huge difference is too.
the way i look at it, anybody who says you dont need a driver probably has never used one.

I wouldnt say you need it, but I highly recommend them. Low imp injectors run WAY WAY better using a driver box, u will get more precise control over them, most noticibly at lower pulse widths (idle, partial throttle).
From what ive seen on the flow bench comparing driver over a resistor pack, u will need ~40% MORE injector open time using a resistor pack to equal the flow of the injector on the driver. Also on the lower end, it has a smaller minimum injector open time, meaning the MINIMUM value to get the injector just to even open.
Here are some ball park examples with the popular Bosch 160lb that are so popular. 2ms on injector driver, you will need ~2.8ms or so on the SAME exact setup on a resistor pack to be equivilant. For the minimum injector open time u might have something like 1ms with a resistor pack, using the driver it would be .8ms.

You're actually right Joe...I haven't had a chance to tune a car with a Injector driver so i will not see the difference until I do but light and medium throttle and cruising was really good. I'm actually curious to see the difference.

Low imp injectors also have the name of peak and hold injectors. The reason for that is that to open them they (should) peak/open at 4 amps then hold open the injector at 1 amp. When you use a resistor box it just sends 1a total to the injector. For smaller injectors this is not a problem but for larger injectors (880cc+) the extra internal weight makes them open slower so the 4a open really helps them open crisply so they dont drible fuel. So, yes you can just use a resistor box but since the injectors were not intended to be used this way, they naturaly dont work as well. I have made a write up on how to build your own that is really easy to build (might take an hour, tops) and uses the same injector driver that AEM, FJO, ect. use. Price to build your own is well under $100

Sorry, you have to be part of PGMFI to see that... Here is a new one I created on H-T.
