Default shift linkage problem

i need to no how to remove tha shift linkage off of a ls cable tranny ?
ppl have told me its just a pin that you hammer out .
is there any easyer ways to do this ??

i got this shift linkage pin tool i got from matco that works pretty good. the part number is MST6455

can i take out tha linkage well tha tranny is still in tha car ????
