Default oil leaking from my head??? can you guys take a look and diagonse my problem?

my front left corner of my head is leaking oil slowly.. its always been sorta dank and grimy. but today, i went out for a drive and romped on it for a bit seeing redline, and when i got back , i saw that the previous grimy stuff was washed off by a clean layer of oil that was leaking. looks like the pics below.

Is this a headgasket issue?

i need some expertise on this. thanks.

Has to be the headgasket since it's the only thing between the head and block.

EDIT: Now that there are pics, the issue isn't with the hg.

Check your compression. Check the cam seal, from the first picture it looks like there is oil in that area also.

Check your cam plug/seal, distributor o-ring, and the vtec spool valve/gasket if its a gsr. 90%+ of the time, its the cam plug/seal.

Thats not the HeadGasktet.

Its one of your top end gaskets. Look at all the residue on the head itself.
What series engine is that?

Check Cam End Seal, Valve Cover Gasket and Distro O-Ring

From an acura tech, ill third the no headgasket, get an updated cam plug and put it in there while your at it replace the distributor o ring and make sure that your valve cover gasket is sealed. replace everything and clean it off really well with brake clean or something and recheck it. Any acura dealer stocks those parts and there cheap.

i cant believe some of the inaccurate info being given here, that is 100% not the headgasket. It is 95% the Cam PLUG and possible the vtec solenoid gasket. I replaced both and had exactly the same leak prior. Leak dissapeared.

dont forget to check the hex bolts, they are the big ones on each side of the head, you cant miss them.

might not be it, but good to check if your already in there.

its a b18c1. its been leaking like that for a long time now, and so much dust and grit has accumulated that its covered the block stamp also, the underside of my block and tranny are all covered in that same grit.

yeah, and there is a bit of oil leaking from somewhere on top of the big leak. I dont get how where the oil is at the head/block is a result of a cam plug/seal leak. it look like the source of the leak is where you see it.

I have the same leak in the same spot...Not to thread jack but mine was coolant @ first but then the oil started coming out...Its mostly oil now...

I was told headgasket because I have a lil white smoke from the head when I open up the oil cap...

So I'm now torn apart whethter to change headgasket after reading this thread...I have replaced the valve cover seal, the distributor....

Check your exhaust manifold gasket, too. Had a leak that looked identical to what you have going on there (in the exact same spot) and the previous owner, in their infinite wisdom stripped out the head stud right there on the end. Replaced the gasket and repaired the stud and booyah, no more leaky. Now, I just have to do my damn oil pan gasket

yeah, today i took a better look at the cam seal, and it does look like its a little wet on the bottom. man, i didnt know so much oil could leak from there. my whole tranny and block are black because of the oil and dirt. could having a bad cam seal cause power loss?

It's not the cam seal, or the dizzy gasket, unless you can see the sludge on the head, too. Heard of gravity? Pulls stuff down, even if you're flying low.
