Default tranny EXPERT???? Reverse idler gear/shaft question???????

i have a hydro b16 tranny and it use to go into reverse but one day it stop going into reverse completely, but goes in all other gears fine.

look at pix #2. i got that pix from a perfect tranny. notice how on the bottom of the reverse idler gear/shaft there is a gold/bronze shim/washer?if you look at pix #3,4,5(my tranny), i dont have that shim/washer. will that not let in go into reverse? look at pix 3,4, and 5 and tell me if you notice something not normal or any suggestion. maybe something bent? if you need better detailed pix, please let me know

Looks okay to me except that you're missing the bronze bushing. The bushing is there for the reverse idler gear to sit on when reverse is engaged. It provides stability.

The problem is probably with the 5-reverse synchro sleeve. Inspect the 5-R synchro set and replace if necessary.

finally took everything apart, and it turned out that the teeth on the 5-R slider was chewed up. but got a new one so everything should be gravy now.

so is it fine if it doesn't have the brass washer? I could have sworn that this b16 trans that i worked on the other night didn't have it.

Now I'm worried that I'm going to have to take it all apart again

I don't see it here though, this is for a 2000 civic si
