My JDM 16s Mounted and Installed on ITR 0193
Ok, so I put Falken Ziex ZE 912 215/50/16s on my JDMs and installed on my ITR today. Took it for a ride and it felt like I was riding on balloon tires. Checked the pressure and it was 40lbs! Reduced to 34 and feels much better, but still a little strange feel. Steering feels a lot lighter than the stock wheels. Guess it just takes getting used to. Definately need to lower the car as it feels like I'm in a pick up truck. I have Koni Yellows and GC coil overs to do that but don't feel like installing them today. I don't usually ask for opinions but do you guys think the 215/50s are to tall? I selected these tires for performance and tire wear. I have new RT615s for the stockers and Expo. Here are some pics. I know, I need to paint my calipers. Thats on the list.

215/50/16 = way too tall.
215/45/16 or 205/45/16 is ideal.
Where did you get the 215/50/16 idea? That tire is an inch taller than the 45 series.

50 Series tires on a 16" rim for the ITR is way too tall. IMO, it sort of takes away from the look of the JDM 16s as well .... makes them look a bit "normal". Still sexy and all, but I would have gone with a 215/45/16, or even a 205/45/16 .... Although not as practical, I think a 205/40/16 is the best appearance wise ... but that's neither here nor there.
Looks great nonetheless!
*Edit - you can still get great tires with the same treadlife as those in the lower profile sizes

What can I say, I'm old. I wanted the wider tread but couldn't find the Falken in a 215/45 other than the 615s and i wanted a longer tread life. Guess I'll drop to 205/45/16. More choices. Expensive mistake! Damn.

Not much to choose from for under $100 each. Other than the Falken 615s, just Dunlop and Hankook.

Kumho Ecsta SPTs
Excellent value, great wet and dry grip, very good treadwear, and fairly cheap. My self and a few others used them at Expo 7 with great success.

I had these in mind at first but they don't come in 215/45/16. Dropping back to 205 gives plenty of other options. I just got stuck on 215 for some dumb reason.

My advice to the OP. You should have kept saving your $$$ for better rubber. You have actually worsened the caR's performance with those tires.
Sidewall does look a bit tall. I had a feeling it would be, but was hoping it would work out. Performance is not an issue. As you can read above he stated that he will be using Azenis on his stock rims for track time. I'm sure you will work it out dad.
^^^ badass GMs on the CW!

so you're ditching the 50 series? you could just tear them up on the track or just wear them down normally... though it'll take forever via the more civilized way cause those falken all seasons last FOREVER... lol. 45 series is definitely where the party's at. 215 45 16 FTW.

I'll just sell them to someone for a really good price.
