Describe "flapping"?
Describe "flapping"?
okay..i took the middle timing cover off..and u can see the timing belt just loose---as can be.....when u shut it off....u can feel the looseness of the belt....when i start it....the timing belt just hits the cover..and whatever its in the way.....
so that's the flapping part....

That's an issue with the tensioner. Sounds like your autotensioner is failing along with everyone who has ever used this engine. Look for the manual tensioner conversion thread in the faq section. importrp.com sells the manual tensioner parts as a set for a lot cheaper than buying them individually from the dealer.
i'm not sure if i want to go over to manual..i mean...its not a bad thing...since if its on there....it won't fail unless the belt snaps off.....
i have the manual tensioner from my h23 block in the garage.....i don't want to do it cuz its my only means of transportation....but if i work on it..i wont have a mean of transporting my *** from place to place......i just need someone who knoes how to do it quick...or right to help out...so i won't [freak] it up....that's all....

Well, you need to change the auto tensioner that's in your H22 now since it's broken. It's either either to the manual tensioner, or buy a new auto tensioner.
i have both of them....bought the auto tensioner from honda--at 100 bucks..and i have the manual tensioner sitting in my engine...in the garage....nver done timing b4....there's the helms manual....but i need a personal guide too.....

Ouch. The auto tensioner, from majestic honda, is less than $70, even if you do want to use that. There's a write-up on the manual tensioner conversion on collectiveracing.net.
^^ auto fails alot, over time, manual always is kept tigh on a auto it can loosen up, the only way for a manual to loosen up is if you manually losen it. less things to go wrong lasts longer
the auto tensioners are VERY common to fail, manuals are not. Switching to manual is the cheapest insurance you can buy to keep your engine running for a long time.. too many horror stories of fairly new auto tensioners failing, and ruining good engines

Either way, you're going to have to open it up to change out the tensioner. Might as well convert it over to manual when you're in there.
