Default Launch/ clutch release control?

Saw this on another board and thought it would be an interesting product.

Thoughts on this? (yes I know its from the evo forum, bear with me and take a look). Adaptable to honda cars with hydraulic clutch? Anyone already using anything like this on their cars?

http://forums.evolutionm.net/s...31688

Note: The video is kind of misleading about how it works... if you read through that thread it is explained better in detail. it restricts the fluid flow basically when actuated... which enagages the clutch at a controled rate. You still use your foot to release the clutch, it does not hold down pedal like the video kinda misleads initially... they just have the valve closed completely and not adjusted yet.

lets leave the evo drama to the them, I dont care about that nonsense.

I can see that for AWD cars but what's wrong with how we launch?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I was thinking for consistancy of a launch some people might find this interesting. Obviously one could debate that this kind of thing is no fun to real drivers, which I agree. I just was curious if people have seen this kind of thing before and if anyone is applying it to their drag cars.

Evo people are retarded when it comes to trying to preload with the e-brake, its its like trying to rub your head and pat your stomach for them, so they need all the gadgets and gizmo's they can get.

This is not for preloading with the ebrake... it is a controled clutch release for launch only. Rather I kinda gathered this was to help minimize the need for preload? Am I reading into this wrong.

I guess I am the only one who find this interesting... I am not a drag car, nor do I spend much time on the track. I just thought it was neat that you could just step off the clutch when launching and this would control the fluid flow... resulting in a more ideal engagement/ slippage of the clutch every time.

but should there be a proload on the drive line to help with not shocking everything, or this meant to remove the shocking so proloading is not need?

I hope im not giving out a huge secret here but ive seen this on many tractor pullers. Use a line lock with the clutch line push clutch down activate the solenoid and it holds the pressure. Remove foot from clutch pedal and use the momentary switch to react much like a transbrake. Now here is where it gets fancy they use nitrous jets to adjust how fast the pressure would release. It would take some dialing of the jets to get the proper launch but deadly consistent. Needless to say they were on dog boxes or lencos (no clutch between shifts) It would work well on something with a dag box and a strain gage.

from what it appears this system uses a line loc setup like you describe but an adjustable restrictor valve to give you the ability to adjust the flow more easily than what you see in tractor pull setups with jets to restrict flow.

jets would be my choice. At least when you find what jets works you'll know which one it was.. Easier to remember jet size instead of how many times you turn the ****.

I think this is a great idea, but it looks like you could fry a few clutches whilst trying to get the setup correct.

yea it would either be a little rough on a clutch or axles depending where you start at initially. setup would definately take a little finesse... you would definately not want to start out with adjusting it on kill with an antilag or 2 step.

I would think you would want to start with low rpm test and then after you get it in the ballpark of where you want... slowly adjust while getting more aggressive with launch rpms.

The valve looks like the summit/biondo line lock. If not they would work and run about $40

so are people saying the tilton control valve is another way of doing this solely, cause I would think you would lose the advantage of bypassing it to not slip on gear changes? or better yet could be used in conjuction in a device like I posted with a line loc solenoid (to serve as the flow control bypass)?

with the tilton control valve, you need to take apart if a change it needed. instead of just turning the ****
