Default new to the forum, 89 integra b18A1 swap.

ok so im new to the forum. i have a 1989 integra LS that i bought back in the summer. kinda kept it in my garage for a little while. so with the recent retire of my truck (cracked head) i decided it was time to get the car out and start fixing it.
i live withen walking distance of just about everything so time is no big deal.

Primed

the car has alot of miles on it. leaks oil, smokes like crazy. etc. so i started checking out craigslist and found a B18A1 motor for a couple hundred bucks, the guy wasnt sure of the milage or anything of that kind. while i was there, i also picked up two fenders for a 1991 integra. my original ones were all bashed up from the previous owner. the fenders looked the same and i saw that someone had posted that they had done a front end swap from a 91... well fenders werent the same. you have to trim off about 2 inches off the back to make them work, or swap the entire front clip. <--- alot of headache so i took the easy way out and just trimed the fenders up and made them work the moment untill i can find the rest of the front end parts.

as you can see in the photo, the bumper has to be changed, or trimed. not sure what to do yet. and the tips of these fenders are also choped off because they came off of a wrecked car and he sliced them. i figured 10 bucks for the pair.... i couldnt go wrong. if i messed them up, im only out 10 bucks

heres a picture of the motor
and a custom intake that my friend JC made up for me

i want to swap this B18A1 into this car. i want to keep it a 5 speed. what parts do i need? if anyone on the east coast has a B series tranny that they are willing to get rid of, please let me know.

i also picked up a Turbo from the guy and a turbo manifold. the turbo was off of a Eagle tallon and the manifold had a custom mount for a mitsubishi turbo to mount on. should i put a turbo on this B18?

i also picked up an after market rear bumper from the same guy from a 90-93. he was going to throw it away because it was cracked. i got it for free brought it home, and did a little bit of fiberglass work and shes as good as new.

any help on the swap would be great!

you could actually get a b16 for that thing. they can be bought with a 5 speed for around 800-1000 bucks. and better than a b18a1. you asked about a turbo for the car. boost is good yes, but without knowing the condition of the motor, and mileage, it might not be a good idea. besides a stock mitsubishi turbo is kind of small. anyway about the body work, check the market place and see if someone is selling a front clip for an 89 integra. also check the classic honda forum, some of those guys have 86 and up integras, same as yours, maybe you can swap or buy some parts there.

Yes, i was looking for a B16 originally because my friends told me that they rev quicker. the only problem ive run across is that alot of the kids around here that have motors for sale, or even the junkyards for that matter. are charging an arm and a leg.i actually saw a stock b16 swap go for like 1700 just because it was cleaned up and painted. im playing with about 400 bucks every two weeks.

about the front clip. im actually thinking about keeping the front clip stock. but then again, ive never seen a G1 with a 2nd gen front end. im just kinda curious as to if i can make it work.

The turbo i got for the car, i dont believe its stock to be honest. its almost about the size of a T3. i found a engine kit to rebuild the entire motor. this guy at hybrid garage was telling me that this is the best kit if i was planning on boosting the car. Id rather have to motor built so that way i know it hasnt been dogged out by some retard who thinks "oh look at me! i can fly!".

the guy i got it from had like 4 b18's in his garage. most of them came out of wrecked cars. ive started to tear into the motor and inspect everything. no gouges in the walls or anything like that, cams could stand to be replaced from the looks of them. any idea on parts i should go pick up tomorrow. im going to the junkyard down in richmond to search for my tranny.

ill keep pics posted up of the build

click here to see some good deals. they have some of the cheapest engines around. also check http://www.hmotorsonline.com they also carry a wide selection of honda motors. as for cams, can't go wrong with brian crower cams. they sell complete valve train kits for pretty cheap.

Thanks for the links. Ill have to save up some funds to get one of the kits. im thinking of maybe buying a whole new motor and swap for like 1600 or something, But id still rather build this motor up. i know its Non vtec, but ehh what the hell. if im running a Turbo with a built bottom end and head work done. i think i could possibly get close to 330 whp, which would still be a screaming little motor in a already pretty light car. I like those cams actually. was looking at the dyno results, not to bad. and im maybe thinking of the BC stroker kit.

Any one on the East coast have a B series tranny they want to get rid of? has to be a 5 speed. i cant stand an automatic

oh here are some new pics of the rear bumper i installed. tell me what you guys think

Before...

after

still needs work, i dont like the gaps along the top and side. im probably going to fiberglass them in. and i still have to finish the body work on the bumper. it was free so im not complaining
