Default cutting a hole in the shock tower:

I've heard a few people doing this and seen a couple slammed cars with cut open shock towers. this was due to the a-arms bottoming out on shock tower with an after market camber kit (skunk2/omni). does anyone have pictures of this?

and here is a picture of the new skunk2 pro series ball joints that moves the allen heads underneath. i dont really think 5mm is going to help much in a-arm travel when it bottoms out. anyone care to chime in?

Hmm Last set I see do that, the bolt heads is what made the hole. These new sets look like they would help some

i had a hole cut in my towers for a while, and i just ran it open. but when i had my car in for paint i got my buddy to make some cap kinda things for them.. they are about an inch and a half higher than stock. i'm hoping it will make a good difference.

from looking at where the arms make contact i notice it dont just make contact with the top of the strut towers but also at the inner area where they arms bolt to the bushings.

i see marks above the arms that have rubbed the tar off the areas by where the arms pivots on the bushings.

the ride was the same, it just didn't have that really hard hitting feeling when the control arms would hit. so it was nice! i haven't drove it yet this year with the new shock towers.

nothing that i can find... i thought i had one but i don't know where it is lol.
all i did was cut out from that little hole that's already in the top of the shock tower(i think there's normally a plug in it) and only cut a small hole.. then lowered the car down far enough that the upper control arm was touching, and cut out just far enough that it wouldn't hit, and did my best to make it even on both sides.

The ill logic of hardparkers never ceases to amaze me.

While it's awfully silly to me, at least the gentleman with the greenish car pictured above isn't half-assing it. If you must do it, do it the right way. That's an excellent job if it works as it should.

maybe some ppl aren't ready for their cars to go into the paint booth, but need the fix now. its a good temporary fix, but one that would need to be finished later

just did mine cause i needed too bad... lol step by step

reason

step 1: cover area from shavings

step 2: tape area you want to cut for a cleaner finished product

step 3: cut hole

step 4: file the edges to clean it all up

step 5: make sure everything is clean....

THIS MAY NOT BE THE GREATEST MOD OR STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO DO IT, BUT IT MAY HELP SOMEONE
