Default NOT ENOUGH POWER GOING INTO SUB????

i have one 12 in alpine type r. it is dual voice coil and 4 ohms.
i just installed Hifonics BXi 1206d mono amp and it just doesnt seem like its pushing the sub.it says rms 450 at 4 ohms and rms at 900 at 2 ohms. how do u hook up dual voice colis to use the 900 watts. or do i need better wiring?
