Default B16 or B20

i just want more power then a D series in my 99 civic, i can get a B20 with no tranny and need LS parts or i can get a B16 with no head, which is better to get?

like the guy b4 me said look around for some threads on this thing dude, do some research and decide what u wanna spend, what u want it built for and what u plan on doing with the car. And ignore the other ******** who dont answer your question and just say **** like "ohhhhhh here go again" cause they usually dont know **** especially if they forget to add "we" to "here we go again"

well im lookin to spend around $800, i can get the B16 for $200 no head and get a B17 head for $300 or i can get a B20 wit no tranny for $400 and do B20 vtec with the B17 head, i just want more then D series power, i think i answered my question, thanks, but can i put a B17 head on a B16?

go for the b20 with a b16 or gsr tranny thats what i have and the torque is amazing... needless to say i laugh at b16's... and i have no vtec... (yet that is)

The B16A head is identical to the B17A head.

As for the question of B16A vs B20, I would DEFINITELY go B20. Throughout the years, I have had a number of different motors, including a B16A and B20Z, although the B20Z swap is non-VTEC. Regardless, even non-VTEC, I would DEFINITELY take a B20Z over a B16A. HP is probably fairly even between the two. But torque is just SO much better with the B20Z.

I've been down that road. Save the frustration, and get a B20 now. Sure a B16 is fast, but it is a hell of a difference compared to the torque you get with a 2 liter bottom end. You can always put a VTEC head on there eventually.
