Questions about tranny swap...
Quick question, if anyone can help.....my girlfriend got a good deal on a 97 AT Accord last year, but she misses driving stick. I believe the engine code starts with F22. what manual transmissions can hook up to this motor? I love Hondas but all of my tech knowledge is in VWs, where trannys are coded. Is it the same for Hondas? I found one at a local junkyard for about $300 in good shape, but I wanted to double check here. Thanks in advance
remember that you are changing your gear ratio's also
the 96+ H22's have a shorter gear ratio then the early model, you are going to have to install the hydraulic clutch assembly also
isn't an ECU upgrade involved also? I have never just swapped out the tranny before

I "think" (read: I have the vaguest clue) that the tranny is off of a 96 or a 97. The yard has 3 three of them, so I guessing that the axles should fit. But thanks for bringing that up, I'll have to check into it. My biggest concern is that the bolts & mounts are the same.
I've read that the ECU just needs modding...I think that will be the scariest part.
Also, does anyone know if the differential on these is open or limited slip? This upgrade isn't until next summer, but I wanted to open the case to fix/upgrade the internals. Yea, that'll be fun...
ALSO(If there weren't enough questions), does anyone know the final drive on these (ex: 97 acc MT)? Thanks again for the info, you guys are a great help.
