Default Taillights for 94

I was driving down the expressway coming home from work one day and I saw this guy driving a 5th gen Accord. It was pretty plain except for one thing, his tail lights. They looked pretty normal until I took another look. They were solid red!I looked at them as close as I could and it didn't look like he painted them or anything, they were just solid red without any white or yellow from the reverse or turn lights.so my only question is has anyone else seen these type of lights and where the hell can I get them?I was planning to go back to regular OEM tails until I saw those.

Well, these are "oem" and they are not "illegal" are they?
http://images.google.com/imgre...a%3DN
And doesn't that vary from state to state?

I'm just looking for the same look on a 94.And furthermore, why does everyone have such a hard on for oem anyway? It's just taillights ya know.If it's easier to get the oem tails and use the red vinyl, then I'll probably do that.

If you look closely, the reverse lights are near the license plate on that car. Our reverse lights are integrated into the taillight and when you make it all red, you lose the effectiveness of he light.

yes it is easier and cheaper, which i why i kept suggesting it. if you're nervous about how it will turn out, pick up a set from a junkyard and practice on them.

I was actually planning on getting OEM lights from the junk yard in the first place,I just thought that that it would be easier to just buy them already red.I'll probably just go the vinyl method since it seems to be cheaper.

I did notice the reverse lights but out here cops ain't gonna stop you for no reverse lights that they wouldn't even notice are missing. You would more than likely get hassled more for lights that are all clear, like a friend of mine did on his Neon. The cops gave him a ticket and he had to put red vinyl inside the light cover so he wouldn't get into any further trouble.

Whatever you say dude. If a cop is behind you he can clearly see you have no back up lights, which is illegal.

Sorry,I didn't know that you've been driving the Chicagoland streets longer than I have.

I'm telling you, cops out here really don't give a **** about that.I've been driving with windows that are tinted too dark for about 2 years now and I've been right next to cops on the street and they haven't said or done ****.So me a link that says It's illegal to have no clear or different colored reverse lights in the state of Illinois.

Maybe that's the case in NC,which I've lived there as well(2 years in Fayetteville and 8 months in Raleigh. My car was all stock though with Il. plates),but unless cops out here just wanna give you a bunch of **** for the hell of it,you're not gonna get pulled over for different colored reverse lights.

Setting legality aside, don't you want to be able to see when going in reverse?

It really doesn't look good either.

Not to sound too rude or anything but I don't do things just to try to please or impress other people and I really couldn't give a rat's *** about what other people like or not.I'm not a mindless puppet that follows specific trends just to be "cool".Now that said If you don't think that it looks good, then you are definitely entitled to your opinion and no one can hold that against you,but don't think that just because you don't like something that everyone should think like you do.I personally think that all of these idiots driving around in old Chevy Celebrities with chromed out 22's looks absolutely ridiculous. But at the end of the day,it's not my car or my money so I really don't care that much.

Sorry,I'm not trying to be an ******* or nothing,I just don't like it when people seem to be trying to "convince" me that something is cool or not.

Now about the technical aspect of your statement. My reverse lights are blue right now and with my windows tinted as dark as they are,it really wouldn't make a difference if the lights were red or even if I had no lights at all. That's the good thing about living in or near a major metropolitan city, there are not too many areas that are that dark.

Lack of reverse lights

You can tell if a car is reversing if you see the white.

You covering that with red = no white light = someone is not going to see it.

It's not you that you have to worry about.

did you ever stop and think that the reason you have not been hit is because people have seen your backup lights?

That's funny,I thought that the reason I haven't gotten hit was because PEOPLE SAW MY CAR BACKING UP.
Seriously though, thanks for the link to the other thread though.

It's a very good point, I will give you that, but see above response.

By the way,the only time people are paying attention to your white reverse light is when they are trying to take your parking space and they are waiting for you to pull out.

Chief, I'm not going to tell you not to do it. And I'm not saying you WILL get hit. But all it takes is for someone to see your red reverse lights and think that you are stopping to let them pass behind you.

So knock yourself out. You're obviously too stubborn to see the point and admit that other people can suck *** at driving.

You've had your question answered - just roll with it. It's a dumb idea for the obvious reason people will think you're braking not reversing and that it won't pass inspection.
