Default Looking for M10x1.00 Bolts

For the ring gear to my Kaaz Diff.

My kaaz supplied bolts are all cocked up and new ones from Kaaz are $50.

No one (Fastenal, McMaster) seems to carry m10x1.0

I don't know if they'll have it, but they've had tons of obscure stuff I've looked for:

Metric Multistandard
972-870-1017

They are local to me, so if they won't ship, I might be able to go by there and pick them up for you (assuming they have something).

What length? I have a source local to me. Can you take a picture of the head too?

Beware: Grade 8.8 is equivalent to Grade 5 bolts. I'd imagine those bolts on the diff are grade 10.9 or better.

just my.02 If you spent all that money on a Kaaz diff wouldnt it make sense to put in it what came with it. Seems silly to chance it and blow out an expensive diff. Possibly lose the diff and the tranny. Look at the 50 bux as a maintenance cost.
That beats the cost of a new diff and tranny combined????

Bolts are bolts. Kaaz doesnt make their own hardware. If you can find those bolts for $5 as opposed to $50, what would you choose? Personally, I would choose $5.

As long as you can match the grade and length, why not? I certainly dont mind spending in areas where it needs to be spent but $50 is absolutely crazy for just a few bolts.

ARP has a special projects division where they can do custom stuff not found in their catalog. call them up and see what they tell you as far as price, might be cheaper than $50 and it will almost certainly be better quality....

I agree, I will measure today, and see what ARP has.

I need to see if the Prelude uses the same size bolts. If so, I'd be interested in a set.

Pieces is pieces and parts is parts. Just another theory.. say the diff takes a crap.
you send it back to Kaaz because it has a warranty...they send it back postage due saying the parts you skimped on arent what we put in them.. Voiding the warranty.
So in theory you have a 900.00 lump of Ish....
50.00 vs 900.00 you decide??

If they are going to void a warranty it is because I just drove 100 competition miles with zero oil in the box, one drive shaft, a crack in the case and a bad attitude.

Its a bolt holding the ring gear on. It's a rally car. If it blows up, It is going to be because of giant pine tree's I just smashed into, VW beetle sized rocks, or the 10ft of air we caught over a blind jump.

Not worried about it.

Spending stupid money on stupid crap causes me to have less money to spend on tires and entry fee's, the stuff that matters.

For those that are actually interested in spending money and time on things that matter like eating a good burrito before a race so you actually DRIVE faster. I visited fastenal today, and they don't have them. They have access to some M10x1.0 10.9's in my length, but they are not flange bolts. I had chickkie order them for me anyway though. They are like $1.29 each.

ARP makes a m10x1.0 grade 10.9 as well for Pinto flex plates. I am calling tommorow because I can't find the length in their catalog. But there is a chance they are close to $50 anyway.

So a 900.00 diff or tranny isnt as important than entry fee, tires or a good burrito that makes you go faster?
With out the diff in good condition, or a tranny to shift with, what good would entry fee be to you?
I remember an auto parts commercial a long time ago..

The man used to say... "you can pay me now or pay me later"

im just saying should a warranty issue arise, kaaz wont honor it once they see what inside.
900 bux is an awful hard pill to swallow, over saving a few bux on some bolts....

If you send it back for warranty, why would you send them the ring gear or bolts? Unless there is damage to the threaded holes in the flange, they will have no way to know what bolts were in there.

What exactly is screwed up with the bolts you have now? Did they show up that way or did you somehow damage them?

So long as you have the correct length and thread and grade, I don't see why you could not use the bolts you found at Fastenal with some correctly sized, hardened flat washers. Make sure to use Loctite. That said, the (rather poor) directions do say to only use Kaaz bolts but that may have meant the ones that hold the diff case together rather than the ring gear ones.

Turns out Fastenal can't actually get them.

They have some M10x1.0 21mm in the computer, but they are in Canada, and only 5 of them, and no idea when they get more.

The ARP's are $41.

So I guess I am buying the KAAZ bolts.

Where from?

The diff bolts are 21mm long. But 25 may work, I'll cut em or something if I have too. Are these class 10.9 or above?
