Default Vtec question

I swapped a b16 into my 89 Si recently and I was just wondering if there was a way to test my vtec solenoid to make sure it was properly working. any help would be great thanks.

Hmm... The only way I can think of that is for sure is to hook a light up to the Vtec wire.... Then pull the solenoid apart and make sure it isnt clogged, and that the little piston inside can move freely... Put it all back together... Check the oil... Make sure it is to the 2nd dot on the oil dipstick...

Make sure you have no check engine lights as well... Let the motor warm up to operating temp... Then go out, get up to speed, and hit Vtec... If after alllll of those other things are correct, the light comes on, then Vtec is working.
