ok heres my story, i went to this guys house to buy a 1997 civic ex for $3000 but when i popped the hood i found a d16y7 motor and d16y8 trans now im thinkin someone blew the engine and swapped it. this guy went to N.A.D.E. car auctions for me and looked at ex's and said they all have the y7s in them now as far as i know the 96-00 ex's come with a d16y8 not y7 is there an explanation for this or am i goin crazy.
if i bought his $3000 ex with the y7 how much would it cost to do a mini me and what exactly am i gonna need cuz i havent done one before. i really just wanted the y8 so i wouldnt have to do a mini me

it def comes with a y8 not a y7. how much its gonna cost really depends on how much you want to do. You could buy a timing belt waater pump head gasket set and the head and prob spend lik 300 but if you want to have it checked cleaned built your gonna be spendin alot more. currently doing a y7/y8 in a 95 dx

the Y7 block is nearly identical to the Y8, IIRC the compression will just be a SPEC higher.

the y7 have 106hp and the y8 have 127hp, by putting a y8 head on it will that boost the hp to 127 or will it still be at 106?
