Basically good versus better. Y7=good, but Y8=better.

y8 has vtec, Y7 does not. Y8 has shorter gearing in manual transmission (no idea for auto's).

Y8=127 HP w/ vtec Y7=107HP(Dont Quote Me) w/out vtec also the Y8 like previously stated has a better geared tranny if in 5speed form. Might be some other small differences. Hope this helps.
