turbo manifold for a formula atlantic 4ag toyota engine
i was contacted by hasselgren to build a turbo setup for one of there engines in an ae86. they gave me the tubing sizes, material, and runner lengths that they wanted. they also told me where they wanted the turbo and that it had to be a 4-2-1 design. and asked me to do the rest lol. its all 321 stainless except the header flange which is mild steel (was going to be inconel but they sent me one that was too thin and was the wrong port size so they expedited a thicker flange in mild steel). obviously the car pictured isnt the car it is for, the stuff was shipped tonight and is going on the engine dyno on wednesday then back in the car for competition this year. i hope to have better pics of the setup in the actual car soon.

That thing is bad ***. !!
I remember visiting a buddy of mine in San Diego one year and he was rebuilding a trans for an open wheeled car owned by Keith lively. The motor setup was identical to the one you have pictured.
Nicely done.

I have seen a formula atlantic engine in person and they're absolutely SICK. Thats all i wanted to say.
Nice manifold. Post pics of it once they put it all in the car.

looks more like the new GT-K series.
The manifold looks very nice. Why did they opt to dump the wastegates into the downpipe? Class rule I'm guessing?

The turbo is a gtk, and they are expecting to make a conservative 400hp with this setup.
The wastegates running back to the exhaust was the way they wanted it, I love open wastegates but it seems that the engineers were concerned about under hood temps and having fire under the car etc, lol.

Awesome work. Seriously that shows alot of attention to the details that alot of people gloss over.
Any worries about manifold movement stressing those wastegate welds?
