Default rebuilt motor break in

I have a quick question about breaking in a motor. i just rebuilt my ls/vtec in my crx.
i have read multiple things about breaking in an engine. the one thing i have a question about is that i read that you should put 30w oil before you start it up and let it warm up. is this true? if so, how long do i go before i change the oil? i know the intervals, but i just need to know when i change from 30w(if this is even true)

thanks

I break in all my engines using napa brand 10w-30 oil. Never had an issue. Run it hard from the start. ditch the oil in the first 50 miles along with the filter, you know the rest..

i've always been told by people that have rebuilt engine and i have done myself changing the oil after 500 miles cause if you replaced the bearings you'll get deposits and material from where its breaking in the bearings and all the extra material comes off

Umm, you better not have "material" coming off your bearings. If you do, you have issues that no amount of oil changes will correct. Learn how to clearance bearings would be my advice.

you don't "run it hard" right off the start.....that is just retarded.......but you don't baby it either......you drive it at a normal pace for the first couple hundred miles. check everything out, change the oil, have it properly dyno tuned then proceed to drive it how ever you like.

the term "run it hard" right from the start is ALWAYS miss interpreted......and if you do exactly that you "might" run into problems.

I have personally built over 15 engines for myself and my firends. Some boosted, more N/A. I have yet to run into any problems by running the engines hard under break in. I have done prolly half of them hard from the start and tried the baby method on the other half. Honestly I have had better luck to this point with running them hard.
