Default SIR front disc brakes on B16 90 CRX hf; which tie rod to use?

Those of us with non-si rexes (aka small HF front brakes), require different knuckles with the b16 axles. My rex has the password jdm SIR knuckles and brakes.

My question is what tie rod should be used with this setup. The ones on my HF are too long even when adjusted to max range, I am still running way too much toe-in.

I already cut them short a little bit. The problem is you run out of thread. Yeah I could cut new threads, but by that time you remove, you might as well just get new...

hopefully somebody has an answer. I e-mailed passwordjdm, but haven't heard anything back from them yet. If I don't hear something soon, I will eventually call and let you know. Seems like a silly question thou, and I can't believe nobody else has noticed this. Many probably overlook this, but its very important and i want the car right. Probably 50% of the swapped cars never get sorted out completely and its the little things like this make the difference between a junkyard piece of **** and a professional job!

And many people DO get the SIR knuckles. The only way you can put a b16 axle in a HF crx is to do just this!

Mine came from password jdm, and considering they came with brakes not a bad deal IMO.

Can you get other knuckles yeah sure, but by the time you get brakes etc you might was well get the entire setup to avoid headaches of things not matching up.

there is no other answer than to get the japanese SIR inner tie rods.

we've discussed this several times here, its in the archives for you to search if you are not satisfied with this answer.

and you dont need the SIR knuckles to do a B16 swap. you just use integra DA knuckles. it doesnt matter that your car is an HF. the HF knuckles are smaller, but regular EF knuckles wouldnt work either.

I very much agree the answer is the SIR inners, but how and where can one get them?

Thanks I did find those old posts about this. I even saw your input on the subject also, but nobody seems to have figured out where or what part number it is for SIR. I called passwordjdm and they are aware of the same thing to and like you advise the ls knucles instead.

I think I will try ebaygermany or canada and see if I can find a listing for SIR inners, and hope somebody in the honda dealer network can cross-reference the oem part numbers. You can bet there is a US model which interchanges.

If there are other ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.

I contacted password a bunch of times to see if they could get me SiR tie rods (at which point I would buy SiR knuckles from them) at the time they refused to believe there was even a problem much less help me. If you ever figure out how to get tie rods for them I'd be interested.

As far as I know the only people running SiR knuckles have cut the ends off of and cut new threads further down their inner tie rods

Today when I called it was very obvious they knew of the problem, however didn't know how to correct it with what part. The guy I talked to had a RHD SIR and swapped in DA knuckles I think he was telling me.

I think this problem is also the contributor to premature axle boot failure....which is only evidenced by the fact that the side I did cut short hasn't torn and the other did quickly. Even with the one side cut about 3/8 short its not enough room to adjust safely without cutting more threads.

I was hoping to get something I didn't have to mess with, but it seems I may just resort to getting new inners, cutting them short and chasing more threads on the shorted rod.

Still would like the SIR p#!!!
