Hey H-T, I'm looking for a budget setup here. Its my daily, just lookin for somethin to hold me over for a little while. Mostly to elminate the wheel gap, don't wanna totally tuck it but wanna bring it down a little and help the handling some. Just wondering what you guys would recommend. Budgets in the 3-400 ranges. Thanks guys.
hey man im on the same boat as u! i believe lowering springs would do for starters. Cuz mine is also a daily ride i dont want sumthing too low but get rid of the gap but also not too stiff. im looking into getting the tanabe nf210.
Also do u have stock shocks as well? idk if i need to upgrade my shocks the sametime as the springs (coilover setup)

ride quality your looking to get out of this suspension? i mean dont expect much if your spending only $300-$400. Keep in mind you'll need a 4 wheel alignment which usually runs $50-$120 depending on the alignment shop.
I'd recommend skunk2 sport shocks $220 shipped from most tuner shops with used brand name springs.

u serious u would need a alignment for lower springs? damn well the tanabe nf210 im looking at cost $160 but idk how much install is gonna cost. usually how long does it take for a shop to install these? cuz this is my only car nd my daily ride as well.

that suspension sucks, sorry to say
If you want to be budget just get some decent springs on stock struts to hold you over for a while.
otherwise do it right the first time

just got strut bars for the front and its like instant handling performance. i notice a difference from no strut bar. so strut bar + lowering springs would probably be good enough for my 13 yr old civic since i have never serviced my suspension. but then idk if the suspension is too old and need to change it. maybe i should just save up and go for coilovers instead.

I would say unless your headed to the track or want to adjust your ride height lowering springs would be a better ride qulaity than coilovers. Coilovers are stiff and make your ride bumpy. If your just looking for a moderate drop go for either tanabe springs or eibach and get some KYB GR2's for struts and shocks. This is the set up I have on my car and it cost me $330. Ride comfort is almost like factory hardly bumpy and I enjoy improved handling. But in the end it matters what you are looking for good luck.
Ya im not looking to do any track stuff at all, since this is my daily ride. at the shop that i went to that sells performance parts they too recommended the tanabe lowering springs as well. i just got my tanabe front strut bar and the baby is great
now im just gonna clean up the fender gap between the wheels, but also have a comfy ride as well.
The guy at the shop told me that the tanabe df210 will drop about 1.7 F and 1.5 R, i was hoping to get the nf210 cuz i heard they only drop about 1.5 F and 1.3 R but he told me its not too low and tat the gap between the wheel and fender is like 1in. But then idk if the drop will make it too bumpy. Guess i would have to trust the dude.
On another note my exhaust fell off on the way to work on "Good Friday"
but now tat gives me an excuse of getting a new one, so i went and got greddy sp2 for my 95 civic sedan dx just wondering how long should i let the car cool down b4 i start the install? getting the exhaust today and doing it after work.

I would say atleast an hour and a half, but it depends on how long you drove it before the install. If your were driving all around town then it will take two or more hours to cool, but just check every half hour and see if it's cool enough. I have the exact same car as you. I have the tanabe nf210's with KYB struts and the drop is significant enough for me. It's low but I can still go over speed bumps barely
.
.
lol yay finally another dx sedan
well its about a 1hr drive home from work. so about an hr cool down, but shouldn't it be a lil warm cuz then it will be easier to remove the bolts (metal expand wen hot). im hoping its an easy take off a couple bolts and hangers and just a reverse procedure but with new bolts/flanges/gaskets
nice. so if i were to get the df it shouldn't be too bad of a drop then? they want to charge me $200 for install and 40 for new bushings if i need them. thinking of installing myself but it looks harder than it sounds so im not gonna mess wit it and leave it to the professionals.

Yeah it sounds like you have evrything figured out. Yeah it is alright for the exhaust to be warm just as long as it is not burning you. And as far as spring install, I did it myself with the help of a friend. It really isn't difficult especially if you have a Haynes manual and the right tools like a spring compressor for your old springs. But two hundred isn't too bad for install I guess. Go 95' Dx Sedans!
I think that some skunk2 shocks and some used name brand springs (eibach, H&R, etc.) springs would be the way to go... I'm sitting on a set with some spankin new H&R race springs and front skunk2 pro camber kit for my DD as we speak... just waiting to get the money to buy some paint supplies so I can do the whole car in one saturday blitz

And yes, you absolutely do need an alignment even if you just use some mild springs. The $80 now is a lot cheaper than the price of the 4 new tires you're going to have to buy a month from now if you don't fix the jacked up toe.

The toe must be reset on an alignment rack each and every time you change the ride height of the car. $80-100 once for an alignment is cheaper than $300+ every 6 months for a set of tires. You can chose to do it the expensive way, or the right way.

True. To the OP, why even waste your cash on a half-*** suspension set up if you can't afford to do right. Just save up $600-700 & get some koni shocks & your choice of good lowering springs. you'll be happy

Why bother. By some bushings instead.

so best way is to save up and go for a whole setup instead of just pieces of the suspension.
well for me just will have to wait for a new suspension cuz my muffler just rusted through and just got a new greddy evo2 and installed it yesterday thing sounds nice and quiet.
but im i guess if one doesn't want a crazy track car lowering springs should be enough for a lil performance and looks (just wat im thinking/believing)

Yes. Why do something twice when you can wait a little longer and just deal with it once?

Suspension components are easily removable
And depending on the car and components, they can be re-used
