Default I have a couple of questions of some 99-00 parts going on a 96 civic hatchback

I have a 96 civic hatch cx, and have just found a person with a 99 si that had his car stolen and had the motor taken out. He's just parting out the car, so I figured I'll take as much stuff as I can, but need help with the following things.

Climate control:
I have searched found where people have changed the climate control by swapping the dash and heater box, I haven't found a solution if I wanted to keep my own dash and wanted to just swap out the climate control. If memory serves right, I need to get the bottom part that attaches to the heater box that has the motor that can switch between hot and cold, since mine is done through a cable since it's a 96.

Is this all that is needed to make this work, or do I need get any thing else. I read somewhere that I'll have to trim the vents up top but that won't be a problem, I just want to be sure I have all the parts for the climate control to work.

Power windows/mirrors/door locks

I know that the floor wiring harness is specific for years 96-98 and 99-00 and that they don't mix and match. This is just an idea, can I send the power signal from my alarm to the factory door actuator to lock and unlock the doors? Since I won't be able to use the floor harness, I'm thinking of cutting off the connectors from the switch, and running my own power cable to the fuse box, and running power cables all the way to the passenger side, so it functions and looks like oem, but is using basically my homemade harness.

Molding

My car has the black molding across the side, the fenders will come with color matching molding, and I'm pretty sure I can use the sides as well. Would I be able to use the part that goes onto the quarter panel, or is that different on coupes and hatchbacks.

Thank you in advance for any assistance, I'm excited...

Here is the dash conversion as done on my hatch (by monicle):

Here is the power conversion as done on my hatch also by monicle:

I'm not sure on the moldings, are you talking about the molding section behind the door on rear panel?

keep that a sticky cuz everybody keeps asking....dunno if anybody tried it, most people looked confused on that thread. Well i went out and did it in 2 hours

Fully functional blower/heater and rear defroster. Thats all i need! my climate control is now a 99+ and didnt break a sweat. Only difficult thing is getting to the bottom of the heater, and replacing the manual switch, with the auto switch, but its common sense.

oh sorry nofx, i see what your talking about.....the thread was just a guidline of what you need for the swap, im just confirming that everything bolts right up, and its super easy. the heater, blower, ac system doesnt need to be changed, only modified with the different brackets, 12v relay and the bottom part of the blower... Just get everything including the 99+ climate harness, and it will be easier then washing your car. Just rip **** out, and put the new stuff in, all plug and play. You only need to remove the glove box and surrounding panels. Ill take some pics soon.</TD></TR></TABLE>

this doesnt require removal of dash since the only thing different are the blower motor, the 12v relay, and the electrical heater core mechinisims</TD></TR></TABLE><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by bigsyke &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">^^ what are you talking about you DONT need to change the heater core, just grab the levers off the bottom of the 99-00 heater core and put them on the 96-98 core. You also need the 99+ harness.

I'm trying to avoid doing this, but will find out I guess.

In order to do that I would need a 96-98 harness, the car I'm taking this from is a 99+ so instead of using the harness that honda made, shouldn't I be able to run the wires to my own switch and power source?

that's exactly the part I'm talking about

Side molding from a 96-00 coupe and hatchback are interchangeable. I looked up the part numbers from a DX coupe and they use the same part numbers. SI's and EX coupes will use a different part number since they come factory painted.

Thanks Mr. Quang, if the climate control falls apart I will hit you up, but as of right now I'm getting a killer deal on it. After lots of searching I found somebody that had a lot of information posted on clubcivic but they had not logged in since last april and the pictures were gone, so I emailed him and he updated pictures. I will try doing it this way since it's the least pain in the *** way to do this, and I'll take pictures and write a clear walk thru.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by chartinael;1127265 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">well, time difference can screw up the flow of posts ;-)

anyhow ... yes you can use your old harness and your defrost will work but you need rewiring and 2 additional connectors. If you know how to solder and how to use a shrink hose you'll be fine.

now to the parts you need:

bezel and controls (see your pics above=
climate control harness
heater harness

Heater thingy

Hazard light connector (we need that, USDM might not)

Transistor

High relay ... no picture (see bottom ... it is screwed on the blower below)

Air temperature motor

If your blower bottom looks like this, use it (use your old blower if you wish, works just as well)

with the high relay in position

And your heater can take to motor like this (don't change it out just get silver thingy and motor)

And you are willing to change the duct (yes, that you will have to do ... no biggie but everyone hopes to get around it)

The harness is a pain but not horrible ... I can try to look through my files to help you but you will need the 5p green motor connector and the 3p transistor connector it helps to have additional connectors as well ...

This for instance is my old heater harness adapted to the climate control harness ....

I used an additional connector as you can see (the small grey one) and also you can see the two connectors you are missing ... the black one I made myself and the green one.

I will have to find a picture of the entire harness ... anyhow, that's what you need and it is not hard.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Which got me into thinking, why not also take the license plate since that is painted as well, that way I get rid of all my unpainted trim at once.

can anyone confirm that it's the same model number between the dx coupe and the cx hatchback?
