1987 Accord keeps blowing headlight fuse?
The fuse for my dim on the passenger headlight keeps blowing. When I put a new one in and turn on the headlights the Brights icon on the dash is automaticly lit up. If I try to turn off the brights it blows the fuse out. Any help would be greatly useful.
Easy, Look for a short to ground (a frayed wire rubbing against the body or anything metal) that is part of that particular circuit... See if you can't get a wiring diagram for the circuit involved. The only way fuses blow is too much amperage, so the electricity in the circuit can't be going through a load and still blow. I would look for the wires that come out of your lights, and just trace them all the way to the battery.
The reason for most electrical faults are the ground but that isn't the case for this this sound like a short in wire i would take a light test and or multi meter to test continuity to find a separation in wire also check casing of wire to make sure of bare direct short to frame
That's exactly what I said. A short to ground, bypassing the load in the circuit, causing too much amperage, thus blowing the fuse.
