if the question here is "optional" and CWTegRNo.160 is right only the R's came with the lip, not like 98 up where the R's came with it stock but it was optional on every model along with the side skirts and rear valences.

Optional being the keyword. It was standard equipment for the 97's, but was not available to other 97 trims.

Now that i know this is a serious question based on the fact that you are ignorant to the situation. The Answer is yes. It not optional on a Type-R, and all Type-R have them including the 97. A 97 Type-R lip is structurally different from the 98,00,01 Type-R, and seems to cost twice of much due to the low number of 97 R's in the United States.

And it is 6.

a group of 97's

type-r vs gsr just to see there is a lip difference.

My thoughts were for the side skirts and rear valences.

To be honest, I thought the question was a joke. But i knew he was talking about the front lip.
