Nice times for a simple setup. In my personal opinion I would not do bigger slicks, I would just do longer gears and a little bit more boost. But, great times and it seems like you are a good driver.

i shift into 5th gear about 100 ft before finish line. i was told to get 23'' slicks and a gsr tranny i would be straight, but that is why i am getting opinions from HT.
thanks for the

i'd first do a gsr trans. and then go run it and see how you like it then.

You shouldn't change your trans. Drag racing loves short gears. You ideally want to be in the top of fourth right when you cross the line. Shifting to fifth is not good...

Try some bigger slicks. Google search "crx math" for a calculator for gearing.

How much does that car weigh ?

111mph with 300 whp sounds a bit low unless the cars a pig.

Im not saying its bad at all.

I just know that my 202 whp hatch trapped 112.
But its probably a bunch lighter.

Thats why I asked how much it weighs.

That ok ?

i have no idea about the weight, but only thing missing is the carpet and and back seats and the sound deadning. looking at my 60 ft times say's i dont need a different tranny, but at the end of the dragway i would be better off in 4th instead of 5th.

What's the MPH on that first run? I don't see how the car picked up from 104 to 111mph between the last two runs? Anyhow, What RPM are you shifting at? I'd stick with the 22's and the B16 trans. Just run the rpm up a lil' more through the traps and you should be fine. If you plan on making more power in the future then maybe think of running a taller tire.

Bump the Rev limiter up so your not shifting into fifth gear at the end.

john,

the 2 easiest choices to do is either get a 23x8x13 slick or raise the rev limiter like Paul said. you need to be shifting at 9K and you'll be good.

24.5" slicks are way too big for that setup and is not necessary.

thanks will and everyone for the response's, yeah i think i am gonna get that 23x8x13 slick and try that.
i think that will be my quik solution for now..

i was dyno'd @ whittfield racing

i do believe my car has a potential to hit ll's, might just take that good driving skills to get there, but eventually i will be there.

i am gonna work on the head now for that rev limiter problem..

I'd probably chalk it up to having to shift into 5th. Not easy to do in a fast manner by any means.

If you're not done turning up the boost I'd say go with 24.5s, but if you're happy with the power now just get some 23s and bump up the limiter 500rpms and you'll be peachy.

Why is shifting to 5th so hard ?

I find it just as easy as any gear.
FTS 5th tons of times.

Nobody said it was hard...why would you want to shift to 5th if you can finish in 4th?

Dont get me wrong I agree with you. Id also rather cruise through in 4th.

But if your going down the track and you need to go 5th, might as well bang in.

I'm a pro now that I own my Camaro. 2-5 shifts FTW!

Still, considering the power is there, less shifts = faster. But we all know this.

shifting into 5th was kinda crazy for the first time. But i had to cause the 12.7 and the 12.9 was ending in 4th gear pinging that rev limiter. So i think the fella's are right about moving that shifting point up about 500 to 1000. I just bought these 22x8x13 and now i have to sell them to get faster. but i love my lenso's, they are freakin so light, mucho compliments to these rims. I say i had a good day at the track, only downfall was that the slicks rubbed on my left front brake line and leaked fluid all over the place. i had to use my e-brake just to get home...LMAO... well anyways problem already fixed.. can't wait till we hit the track again..
