I'm needing a 1997 Base 5pd Enigne computer. I've found a few but only for a 98 base 5sp. I called a Honda dealership and talked with a few techs. They said that only a 97 computer will work. not a 98. They said there is a few different sensors between the 97 and 98. From my understanding I thought it would.

Wanted to triple check here, any replies will be appreciated.

 

I know that all 97+ preludes have an immobilizer system and the ecu will have to be reflashed and a new red key programmed no matter what factory ecu you put in it. Then you can reprogram any keys you already have. Unless the ecu comes with keys and you want to rekey your car to those keys. Other than that I do not know if a 98 ecu will work in a 97.

 

98+ emissions are different from 97. You need to find a 97 ecu.

 

What about and 98 motor in a 97 Lude with a 97 ECU? uhoh Haven't tried to start it yet after the engine install yesterday...willI encounter a million problems?

 

Is the evap system still the same? I doubt you swapped that out with the motor.

 

I have a 97 SH ecu if that will work.
