engine swap ques
i have a 89 crx si and something isnt right i think the head is screwed bad or timming jumped a tooth and popped a hole in my pistons or something
so i have another 1.6 ltr but it has liek a little carburator on the throttle bodyor something instead of being injected into the manifold so i was wondering if i would just take the intake manifold off my crx and put it on the one in the civic and it should work?
or how hard is it to get that motor with the carbuator type thing ont the tb into the crx? would it be a drop in or would i have to change the wiring and so on?

Its easier to just pull the transmission off by itself. Unless you have a shop then why not. What do you mean a carburetor on the throttle body?
If it is a crx SI then it would be a mpfi unless your not in the states. I wouldn't remember off the top of my head.
Are you replacing the engine or just transmission? How does the engine run? I'm guessing maybe the timing jumped.
When the car is running is there ALOT of smoke and the car idles poor? Be more specific.

I like taking the engine with the tranny out. When I pulled my motor I pulled everything out, axles included. It took me alot of shaking, and alot of maneuvering. I guess its easier to lower the engine on a jack with a tire on it and life the car up way high.
i cant explain it much better than that becuase i dont know what it is :S when i open the top part and i look in it looks liek a mini carb.
tons of blue smoke and my gap was closed on my plugs, so im guessing there is lots of damage in the motor, no codes though
there is no fuel rail on the motor i want to take out and put in my crx.
i found some useful links but still unsure
i would like to swap motors d16 to d16 and the one i am planning on putting in the car is a dpfi i think that is what is is called but i want to keep it mpfi so if i would just change motors and change the intake manifold would it work? or is there more, i also serached but it didnt realy help :S

Your car is already Mpfi right....if it is then yes all you need to do is take off your mpfi setup on your running car and bolt it onto the dpfi motor....change the dizzy also.......as far as taking out the motor if your using a hoist take the engine and tranny out as one....

Well just take the engine and swap it. Keep your mpfi set up. IF the OTHER motor is a dpfi (duel point fuel injection) and you want to swap it into your crx (mpfi) then just take off the intake manifold and it'll be a direct swap in for engine.
Yes, your engine is gone lol
There shouldn't be a closed gap in any of the spark plugs.
So you are going to swap engine correct? a d16 to d16 and just asking about intake manifold set up?
edit: yes take the engine out with tranny. If you were doing a clutch replacement then i'd let the engine hang trans out.
Correct you have to use your dizzy with the swap.

im sure it is a d16 it is a 1.6 ltr anyways and other than the fuel injection part they look the same.
im keeping the transmission in the car now becuase the clutch only has around 3000kms on it and it feels so smooth. but i think i will still take both transmissions out cause im gonna take what i can offa the parts car and then give it to the junkyard, i have way toi many cars around

parts car the guy that had it before me got in a head on, the front engine mount i think is a bit bent and the rad, nothin to major but runs like a dream and stuff so im putting that engine in my crx since the one in the crx broke,
also how much is a d16a6 bottom end worth, for just the block?
and someone has made me an offer to buy the crx
im real surprised so i may consider it and keep my probe turbo and 240sx and sell the daytona, not sure i had alot of good times with the crx
the ladies liked it cause it was a 2 seeter
