Default crx doesnt like to start at first

ok i have no idea what is up with my crx. its a 89 si. it had been sitting for a while and that gas tank got rusty. so i took it out. cleaned it. changed the fuel pump. changed the fuel filter and cleaned the injectors. but every time i try to start it when its cold it doesnt start and i have to crank it for like 2-5 minutes straight. then it will start up like subaru sound and sounds like its only running on 3 cylinders or somthing. but once the car has been drivin for a little bit. it will start up everytime. only when its cold it wont start right away. any ideas? im clueless

Is the CEL ON?

You might have a bad coolant temperature sensor or EACV.

Yeah i think you have a dead cylinder. I know a guy who's DA sounds like a Subaru, and has a dead cylinder. Do a compression test.

A faulty coolant temperature sensor or EACV can cause a cold start problem.

Ditto with ^^ above. With 3 cylinders it would start up just fine also, just really smokey.. I had my crx running on 3 cylinders and started right up. But theres another engine in there now.

But yeah replace the sensor under the head above the transmission. (Forgot what its called) Would cause cold start problems.

which sensor the like single wire one or the two. i think it might be the single wire. it looks kinda cut and could probably be re sodered. i'll have to try that. but now i have to wait for the car to get cold again. i hate waiting.

no i havent. why would it be the distributer. or how could it be. the dizzy looks like its brand new. and it is dated like 2005. this motor ran like a champ until i swapped it out from my other car to this new car.

The two wire sensor is the one that you are interested in. The single wire sensor is for the temperature gauge in your dash.

k. i replaced that coolent sensor. and i waited for it to be cold. and it wouldnt start again. i let it crank for like 2 minutes and then it finally starts up. i dont get it at all. it runs perfect when its warm but wont start worth a dahm in the cold.
