Al vs Ti vs SS retainers?
Which one is durable? I read some threads that Ti and Al retainers are good for racing only and after 15 000miles they are going to break. I will rev the engine over 10 000rpm adn the car is dual purpose.
P.S. Engine is B16A2

There are many variables to consider regarding retainer material and its life span. Not all titanium retainers quality and service life are equal. I have seen some wear out fairly quickly and others that hold up very well and show little signs of wear. A lot of it has to do with the springs and fitment of the retainer also.
As far as I now, supertech is the only company to offer aluminum retainers for b-vtecs. The only thing I know about aluminum retainers are that they come stock in several popular engines for example the mitsubishi evo 4G63 and Nissan QR25DE. They seem to have soft springs under them. Also, they are often used in motorcycle engines as well.
I have seen a few stock steel retainers break in half, but those were older parts that saw a lot of cycles and heat in their lifetime so its not a surprise.

Ok... Supertech Aluminum retainers vs Crower Titanium retainers. Which is better? I am planing to use them with Skunk2 Pro valve springs. Are they compatible with stock retainers?
if u have skunk2 valvesprings go with skunk retaineres. if you didnt have any of it i would say go with rocket SL valvetran or supertec gl. o and if u were looking for lonitivity then should have gone with some crower cromely retainers and springs here they hold 60k+ish any way ,,v, out and sorry bout the spelling

i believe close to 99% of Ti ret wear is cause of that...
mix and match is usually bad... and then they wear.. Ti IS SHIAT! I TELL U ITS SHIAT...

Ain't that the truth. Seriously, what cam are you going to use to make power at that high of a rpm?

Sk2 S2 pro.
I think that the best valves are omni's, best valve springs are Sk2 Pro, best retainers are crower's or supertech's. That's why i mix the parts.
