Need help on installing one piece headlights on crx!
hi im interested in buying some jdm one piece headlights for my 89 crx..i heard you need to modify for it to fit right..i was just wondering if anyone knows what them modifications was..any response will be greatly appreciated..thanks.
Well you can cut up your fenders and bumper to make them fit, but it still won't look right. You really need to get jdm front end pieces like the fenders hood and bumper to headlight garnish to make them fit like they're supposed to. Password JDM sells a complete JDM front end conversion with oem headlights and aftermarket body panels. Its a little expensive but all bolt on and easy.
password jdm is junk, they always forget to send you something or charge you for something that doesnt exist. Ok for instance lets go to when i ordered my ef9 conversion from password. fenders, sir vis carbon hood, bumper, lights, jdm circle fogs, jdm carbon lip. took 3 months to get it cause they "lost" the cashiers check. next they charged me for the carbon lip....but its discontinued. when asking them about it they said "oh well we'll send a complete detailed fax of everything you ordered"....never did and never got a refund. Password jdm is too expensive when i could have got the whole jdm front with RHD dash and motor from hmotorsonline.com for just 500-700 more. look at other places before ordering from password.
the hood lines are wrong, on top and side of the headlight.
the bumper gap is wrong on the bottom, and the curvature of the fender side is totally different.
its a huge undertaking and its been done perhaps once, maybe twice.
i once saw an image of a blue 90 hatch with them, it looked alright, but weather or not it was worth it is greatly debatable.
when i first joined on here i really went crazy trying to find someone who had done it, since i wanted to do the same thing.
i ended up just using a normal jdm cr-x front swap then go the heavily modded route to make the 1 piece lights work.

no this information is not correct.
an EF2 JDM SEDAN front, which was the only EF to feature the one piece lights the OP asked about, CANNOT be bolted up to a usdm crx.
you must cut and weld it on. thats the other route for getting the one piece lights onto a usdm crx, HOWEVER it drastically changes the look of the front of the car.
it adds a metal filler piece in between the front bumper cover and the headlights, like the hatches have:
notice how the hood is not the same as an ef8/ef9. it features a lower grill piece at the base of the hood, and a long metal filler piece like the usdm hatches have.
and if i could find a side shot i could show you how the curvature is different for the corner light portion as well.
i feel your pain tho man, i hate the gap on ef8/ef9's

No I think it looks more like an integra imo. But they will never work on a crx.
there are many people that have screwed this up!

Yes they do. Also the sedan front ends are physically longer than the civic/crx so while the sedan jdm hood would bolt up at the hinges it would be too long on your car. I too have seen the blue hatch with the one piece headlights. When I first saw it I jocked it but as the years went by and I got deeper and deeper I saw it again. It looked like total poop! It doesn't match the front end of a crx or civic ALSO you would have to weld the jdm ef sedan rad support onto your car as well. Too much work for something that you really won't be satisfied with.

ive seen it done there was a crx at the local junk yard the other day with gay z3 fiber glass fenders uddm style cf hood and ef sedam one piece head lights but u know what was funny it was hit from the passenger front so all the pass side was tore up head light was gone just one side was there and cf hod was in poor cond...
yeah just stick to the 2 piece ones youll have open choices for corner light cuz you break the corner and the one piece good luck finding replacements and you got to change it all again hey and does anyone if between the hatch the crx and the 4 door the corner light changes i have a 1989 crx si they said it might be late model 89 it has 2 screws i bought new ones but they dont fit
no you cant mod a crx bumper for a hatch but you can put the fenders and bumper then its bolt on i did it on my hatch but crrx look better with hatch front ends
