Default possible ways of smelling burning oil???

i'm just curious....it came to my attention when i did my oil change that i had a leak from my oil pan seal. now from up till then and currently now, every now and then i can smell oil burning from the heater vents....
i rev. the engine and see the exhaust...its clean....no discoloration or anything. so i'm just wondering if the smell of burning oil could be from it drippin onto something and its somehow getting into the heater system? keep in mind i have my climate control setting on the "non-circulation" option.

any ideas???

the oil is probably dripping off of the exhaust mani and making its way into your cabin. fix that oil pan gasket and clean off all of the old oil
