Default 3rd Gen Odyssey was 255hp for 05, but 244 from 06 on...

What did Honda do to have to reduce the horsepower by 11 hp? I can't see consumer asking for such a reduction. Is there a new environmental compliance that further robs power that is required now?

If there was a 5hp reduction off the lot on a Civic, I think some buyers would cringe seeing there are enthusiasts who would do a small mod to gain 5hp,

well seeing as they had to test horsepower with the ac, power steering and alternator hooked up for 06....
did you not notice that the k20a series engines lost a few horsepower as well at the same time?

Did SAE change the testing requirement?

edit:

wow yes they did.

"While Toyota and Honda are retesting their entire vehicle lineups, other automakers generally are retesting only cars and trucks with updated powertrains."

That would explain why I haven't noticed the horsepower rating drop until now, as I'm not really a Honda / Toyota guy

Apparently, the domestic companies have been using this method for years and the Japanese, the other way, so the difference.

Since I haven't noticed horsepower drop in domestic models like this, that would explain why I didn't even notice about this change until now.

The hp rating of all Honda and Toyotas were overstated, apparently.
