Default Seat belt warning sound -- annoying!

Is there an easy way to disable the seat belt warning sound? I'm referring to the annoying beeps that sound off when your seat belt (or the passenger's) is not buckled in.

Can it be disconnected from within the dash? Is there a site out there that sells just the buckles?

Well if you really wanna go that route, then I guess you could buy the piece from the dealer parts department and just fasten it in.

But not only is it the law to wear it......it could save your life as well. You never think it can happen to you (getting into an accident), but if it ever does it could prevent you from......

a. Being thrown through your front window.

b. Having your head bashed in like an un-ripe tomato on your front windshield.

c. Being thrown from your vehicle in the event of a rollover.

d. Having the vehicle land ON TOP of you in the event you are thrown from a rollover crushing every bone in your body while fertilizing the cement with your brain matter.

e. A combination of all the above.

Now if any of those sound like your particular brand of vadka....then go ahead and DON'T wear it. But heed the warning and know that you were warned!

Wow, its really surprising how many of these threads there have been. What's so hard about putting the seatbelt on? I guess there are just some people that need to see to believe that seatbelts really do save lives.

want the sound to go away... put your seat belt on before you turn the car on. whalla!.

im guessing you have something heavy in the passenger seat and its making the seat belt alarm go off? if so the only way to disable it (without messing things up) is to buckle the seat belt.

other than that i dont know why you would want to disable a safety devise

Honda-Tech.com
"Honda and Acura Technical Resource"

A technical question was asked. I appreciate the extra exposure my question has now received as a result of the contributions made by my well-intentioned respondents, however a technical answer has yet to be provided.

Is this a forum for debate or a resource for answers? Unless you believe it is the former, that should be taken as a rhetorical question. If you have something useful to provide, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

I never liked wearing a seatbelt until I was in a minor car accident in a friends eclipse gsx. I was wearing my seatbelt that night but ever since then I make sure I wear it, it just becomes a habit just like anything else. do you put on your shoes and not tie them? same logic...

It may not have been a technical DIY for hot-wiring the thing......but it IS a solution.

exactly... most tech questions that come through here are performance upgrades and questions they cant find answers to. this has been answered numerous times. the search tab is highlighted in red for a reason.... people must not see it.

most people are not going to steer you in the wrong direction. but not too many techs out there are interested in interfering with any safety device including bells and whistles.

To RICO_,

Yes, thank you; I realized that you were the only one to actually provide a relevant answer and I failed to acknowledge that in my previous response. I suppose I did this because you were also the one to post the most irrelevant content as well, which may have led me to overlook that important detail. No worries mate, as I don't mean to offend by saying that.

Now, can someone tell me where I can find a good HID kit for my stock headlight housing?

I'm a little late on this topic but I still want to add my comment.

I don't have an answer and I would never give one to this type of question.
I would never give someone info that would put their life in danger. If you got into a wreck and got killed I might as well be a murderer.

Nothing about what I said was irrelevant. Every bit of it is true and a sad possibility for anyone that doesn't drive without their seatbelt. Last year a 21 year old man was killed when he was thrown from his Tahoe in a rollover accident on his way back from a Sring Break trip. The SUV landed right on top of him roof down killing him instantly.

Obviously it's not my place to tell you what you can or can't do....but that doesn't make it right for me to just sit back and support your decision NOT to wear your seatbelt. And nobody else will either!

True, but who wants to contribute to someone killing themself?

Not wearing your seatbelt does not look cool. Stop kidding yourself, and quit the gangsta bit. It's old and childish. Only wanna-be thugs roll without a seatbelt. See how hood you look hanging out of your windshield.

The only way to get rid of the noise is to put your seatbelt on.

OH! And move your hand off of the top of the steering wheel and sit up, while you're at it!

b) i also ride a motorcycle...no seatbelts on those things...omgz...
c) it's not your concern what the person does in regards to wearing his own seatbelt.

There is a wire under the seat going to the weight sensor that you can disconnect. This will stop the beeping when you don't buckle your seatbelt. However......it will also completely screw up your airbag safety system (I'm pretty sure they will be disabled). In other words, you will be making your car much more dangerous to drive just so you can make it not beep at you. I'll keep an eye out for you in the Darwin Awards. Good luck and do not hold me responsible for any damage or personal injury.

You're trying to act hood right now. Calm down e-thug.

a) You obviously don't, because you wouldn't complain about the seatbelt chime. It's easy. To make it go away, put your seatbelt on. It's annoying for a reason. Do it before you start the car (like you had to do, to get your license!), and you will never ever ever have to hear it.
b) I ride too, but I also don't wear a helmet in a street car...omgz
c) Sure, it's not my direct concern, but don't call anyone ridiculous if they don't want to contribute to someone commiting suicide. I've had too many friends die because they didn't wear their seatbelt, or a helmet while riding.
d) I got over myself a long time ago. Stop trying to act tough over the internet. Be smart and considerate of your fellow man, rather than support someone doing something so stupid.
