What goes wrong on an R @ 25k miles? Buying Questions...
Okay, so lets say I find a Type-R that drives well, looks good, and has ~25k miles as a year 2000. What might I expect to go wrong in the next year/5k miles? Like lets say worst case scenario, the car was driven hard, and lets say that its in good shape but its been driven pretty hard. What starts to go? Clutch? Belts? What is going to be a potential problem down the line up to 40k miles? I'm not very well versed in these cars as they get older and the mileage gets higher, but if all the tuneups and fluid changes are done, what tends to fail? Thanks for your help so that I know what I could be getting into.

IMO after 25K the car should still be a smooth as a baby's butt.
I would say you *shouldn't* have ANY major problems with the car EVER. I have owned about 10 Hondas and if you treat em right with REGULAR maintenance, they will be there for you forever

A friend of mine said "The posta-bees and the is-bees are bees from separate hives"
I'd look at the oil dipstick for any telltale signs of abuse or neglect,
Check the brake rotors and pads
Check the clutch for slipping
Probably a bunch of other things that I can't think of now, hope this helps some.

Soup ****, sorry, your thread didn't answer my question at all. I know that I'm going to have to do service on the car, what I'm asking is what potential problems to look for, and how to look for them. So my questions now are: What do I look for on the dipstick? I mean am I just looking to see that the oil looks clean as a reflection of past care? Clutch, I drove it and it felt good, but is there any way to tell how much is left? Can a tech tell me?

I would hope a car at 25k would not come with any problems unless those are severly abused 25k miles.
A good look at the driver would also help. Even though I'm young at 21, I would have a really tough time buying the car off someone really young.
Justr some things to think about

You get the point. No one is going to sit here and be able to tell you what problems the car has at 25k without looking at the specific individual car.

your question gets an answer similiar to this question "how long will you live if you only eat fried chicken worse case scenario?"

Opinions are like ********, everone has one and most of them stink.
Why post dereogatory stuff. Thumper once said "if you can't say nuthin nice don't say nuthin at all"
THis do a search **** has got to stop. IF you don't want to answer or think they are stupid do one of 2 thigs
1) Answer nicely
2) carefully hit the back button
Surely those take less effort than doing a search for him so you can be an *** . . . .
