Ls V build...
hey guys...well i have this guys building me a ls vtech...he just got a automatic ls block and he is about to take it to the shop to get it checked up..he said hes not going to bore it or hone it because its from an automatic and that you only gain like 4 hp from it...seems alot...but then thats what he said shouldi do it still?? and he is also goin to build me a B16 head with stock ITR springs and retainers from my ITR motor i blew...is that a good idea or no to use my blown motor stock springs and retaineres...and shouldi run CTR or p30 pistons...the motor is goin to be a DD...so i want a good DD car with some power....let me know what you guys think i should do...thanks guys...
wud up bro, where you at in wisconsin?...anyways,use p30 pistons because the ctr pistons will require you to machine the ls rods to fit so its much easier.i dont see what it being an automatic has anything to do with it,thats all the transmission, the engine is the same auto or manual i would think.aslong as the cylinders arent out of round then you dont have to overbore the block, but honeing the cylinders is recommended to ensure proper ring sealing.i myself am building a lsv so if you have any questions feel free to ask, im not the god of engines by any means but i can always try to help.make sure you use ARP(or equivalent) gsr/itr/b16 headstuds and rod bolts because the stock ls rod bolts will not be able to withstand much abuse
im located in milwaukee...what about you....well yea i know that it dosent matter if its an auto or manual its just that it means it wasnt beat on...but i should get my block honed and run p30 with stock ls rods...i have a blown ITR motor at home...
Uhm.. let me guess, you took your car to the mystery mechanic that you were asking about in an earlier post? Listen.. go get your **** back and run away. Not honing because it was an automatic? I wouldn't trust this guy to change my brake pads.
BTW.. VTECH makes phones.

hahaha..no i still have my ****...lol...he is goin to build a ls v for me...but then i might not buy it...he said hes gonna build this ls anyways because he wanted too...so he dont really care if i buy it or not...so yea...i still have my car and motor...took off my head and found out my piston has a whole and my head is gone
...hahaha...sucks tho...

Sell your car and buy a Scion. Then join the Scion forums and forget that you have ever heard of Honda-Tech.
Never talk to this "mechanic" again and warn all of your friends to stay away as well.

Your sentence structure sucks.
I suggest you take that block to a reputable engine builder and have them tell you if it's something that can be fixed. There's no point in buying a new block if you already have one.
There HAS to be a machine shop near you somewhere. Hell, even here in good ol' Detroit, the home of v8 muscle, I found a machine shop literally 2 miles from my house that had zero problems working on my little 4 cylinder. That's because to them, an engine is an engine.. yours is just smaller and gay because it has too few cylinders. Let them think that and pay them to fix it.
Please.. do not buy this engine from the tool you are talking to. In fact, cut off all ties with him. You already knew he thinks he doesn't have to hone the block because of the transmission it had. That alone should be a good enough sign not to purchase anything he has touched and not to let him touch anything you own.
This was said about 50 times in your other thread. Go find a GOOD engine shop. They are out there and I'll venture a guess there's one not too far from you.
