Mugen Shocks?
A few months ago I had purchased a set of skunk2 sport shocks and springs. Today I finally got around to putting them on the CRX I just bought. When I pulled off the front tires I noticed that the shocks were Mugens. It specifically said Mugen integrate shock absorber. Has anyone heard of these? The reason I ask is because when I went to put the front shocks in to the forks, it was too loose. There was at least a quarter inch gap all the way around between the shock and the sides of the fork. I thought this would be remedied when I tightened the bolt on the fork but none the less it was still loose.Really loose, like I could pull the shock out of the fork. I thought maybe I was shipped the wrong shock. I had an old kyb agx laying around, for a crx, and put that in the fork and it was the same problem. So, I am thinking that the previous owner had to change the forks out in order to accommodate the mugens or, the I was just sent the wrong shock. But since I also tried the kyb's, it still doesn't make sense. Any help would be appreciated. It would really help if someone had a spare fork for a crx laying around and could measure the opening of it.

You can't see it but underneath where the springs sits on the bottom, the words mugen and showa are actually imprinted into the shock, and then it says japan and some other japanese writing. All I want to know is if the forks off my 90 crx had to be replaced with bigger ones to accommodate these mugens. There aren't too many junkyards around here for me to just go and pick some used forks up.

They're obviously shocks for a '92-95 Civic, '93-97 del Sol, or '94-01 Integra, which explains why the fronts are too large in diameter to fit in CRX mounting forks. The previous owner had to use the mounting forks from one of those three vehicles to use them on the CRX.
You will need '88-91 Civic/CRX or '90-93 Integra front lower mounting forks to run your Skunk2s.
