If you want to know if hatch and coupe doors are interchangeable, yes, they are.

Well, let's clear that up too. No US Civic is an EK. None.
EK is a term that actually denotes hatches and sedans overseas. You've probably heard of the EK4 and EK9 in particular.
Some people incorrectly think that EK4s were only '96-'98 hatches. They were available for '96-'00 and came as sedans too. EK4s came stock with a B16A. They were never available here though.
The EK9 is a Civic Type R and was only available in Japan. The ones in Europe were shipped there afterwards. They were only hatches.
Here in the US a lot of people think that an EK is any 6th gen Civic. Some others might say it only means a hatch. As I explained, they're both wrong. It is a common term used (incorrectly) to refer to any '96-'00 Civic though. I prefer to just call them 6th gens or 6Gs. At least then I'm not spreading misinformation.
What the OP has is a USDM Civic EX coupe with a D16Y8 (at least stock). It's an EJ8 whether it's a coupe or sedan.
All US 6th gen Civics were EJs, EMs (Si coupe) or ENs (GX sedan).
